Because of this movie, I started to have a love of movies featuring driverless cars. This movie is the best! My most favorite!

For a horror film, this isn’t really horrific. It had me jump a few times whenever The Car revved its engine unexpectedly and killed some people. That horn honk will go down in movie history as one of the most intimidating but funny sounds in a film. If you enjoyed Christine, Duel, or any other driverless possessed vehicle movie, definitely consider watching this. If you’re sensitive to gruesome imagery, I’m happy to tell you this film has little to no gruesomeness. I highly recommend watching this!

“Still 1 of my favorite movies as seen in my teens on VHS.... which I still have the original tape...A classic period!!” Beyond any bad reviews that you may come across...” Christine couldn’t hold a candle to The Car PERIOD..” but above all else All else The Car’s horn...that is the takeaway that stays with me since my first watch......” Berrrrrrrrr Baberrrrrrr BaBerrrrrrrrrrrr!!” Will never forget that horn...and I’m 52 now and can recall the way it resonated the first time I watched the movie when The Car literally just appeared in the opening out of nowhere leaving a dust trail and introduced The Devils Ride by its ominous appearance and that nerve tingling horn...”

Some films, books, or events stay with you long after first seeing, reading or attending them; and The Car, for me, was one such film. I saw this odd little cult film when it first came out. And as an unsuspecting young teenager, rushed to that Saturday double-feature, w/siblings in tow, and gladly handed over the $.75 price of admission as I had so many times before. But this film terrified me that day and I will remember the sound of that ‘horn’ until my dying day. I don’t know if it was the car as nameless, faceless evil. I couldn’t tell you what about the film struck such a deep chord—but it did. I saw the film many years later, as an adult and Jawam08had a similar reaction. Hmmm, I guess some films simply imprint if you see them early enough. Hereto, you should monitor what your kids are watching, right?
  • Very entertaining, but NOT SCARY!

Just watched this movie the other night. This movie will always be remembered. It was a very clever idea to make a thriller about a car that has a mind of its own! It is an old film, but it is a great film, and it is very entertaining. It is considered a horror movie, but it isn’t that scary, and I think it’s more of an action thriller. If it is a horror film, it is one of the cleanest horror movies I have seen. No blood, guts, or gore here! I loved pretty much every scene in the movie, and at times, it kept me on the edge of my seat! If your kids like action and suspense, then they can see it, but just watch out for the mild language! This is a great movie! MUST WATCH!

First of all, way better than ‘Christine’, and I’m a big Stephen King fan. This movie not only came out before ‘Christine’, the movie, but the book as well! The HD quality offered here is absolutely pristine, showing just how wonderful the film was shot! There are very few 1970s films that look this good! The ‘Car’ looks so devilishly cool, that you actually buy into a suspension of disbelief very willingly. This film has a 27% on Rotton Tomatoes, but after what I’ve seen lately regarding the Captain Marvel movie on RT, I realize that RT no longer can be trusted as a film guide or critique of an Hollywood movie! Do yourself a favor, and watch this film. There’s no over-exposition, or explanation, regarding why ‘The Car’ is, or even what exactly ‘The Car’ is! It’s just one ‘hell-of-a-demonic-gas-powered-monster’ to fear... and survive, ...if possible!!!

I watched this when I was 13 years old, living outside of a small town in Waupaca Wisconsin. HOLY CRAP I was scared for weeks. The sound of the car ripples through my body. Of all the scary movies, this one and "The Fog" did it for me when I was young. Maybe not worth $14.99 but would be worth $9.99- come on Apple!

I remember seeing this movie in 1977. It also used to come on late night on tv. I'm a big fan of this flick & was glad to see it got a Blu Ray release. Finally, iTunes has it. 😎
