Description

From the makers of the Oscar-nominated film “Restrepo,” Sebastian Junger and Nick Quested chronicle Syria’s descent into the unbridled chaos that allowed the rise of the Islamic State. Pulling from nearly 1,000 hours of stunningly visceral footage, they capture the Syrian war’s harrowing carnage, political and social consequences and its human toll.

If you like your terrorist cult documentaries coupled with Anit-American demogaugery--this is the film for you. The narroaror LITERALLY compares the USA's historically justified use of nukes on Japan. Although horrible, had the US invaded Japan the casualty count would have been exponentially higher. If you think those deaths would not have been civilian--learn history. Women and children were brainwashed into exexuting Kamakazee attacks--just like the men. The ONLY only way to achieve unconditional surrender was to do what Truman did. In a land invasion, they would have continued to fight until every last person was dead. That's MILLIONS OF PEOPLE, folks, including HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF American GI's. Had Hirohito heeded truman's warning, Fat Man and Little Boy would never have been detonated. ISIS was cruel and sadistic for sadism's sake--Truman dropped "the bomb" to end WWII.

No, this isn't a documentary. More like a propaganda piece, which makes America and her allies the bad guys. Nevermind the fact that IS is chopping peoples heads off, but no, America is the enemy, America is the bad guy; IS is just defending their way of life. Not worth the time or the money. The people who made this should be ashamed of themselves. If they think the US is so bad, then why live here? Go and live in Syria.

The movie is objective and very disturbing. It didnnt blame the US; on the contrary it pointed out the difficulty of the hell hole fomented in that tiny country where multiple nations and factions have invested in the conflict which intersects there with global consequences. Obama at least had an impact on ISIS. Now it is a shame that Russia has supported Asaad in the genocide of Syrians to establish a criminal organized government.

This is a balanced view of all the events of the past 6 years. If you want to know what has happened in the Middle East, why this effects Americans, and what role we did, or did not play, then this is a MUST SEE. And, this will continue to play out for years to come
  • Great but let down by its bias !

Enjoyed watching this documentary, but, felt the narration was let down by an obvious bias against Al Assad. Would've appreciated more view points from both sides.

Of course, they make it out as AMERICA is the enemy and the bad guy. We have a group of spycopaths running around slaughtering people and saying praise God and the United States is the bad guys. Get a grip. This is so stupid. Its so funny everyone trashes the US until they want our help. Then what.

In the trailer we see a "gentleman" say that 'ISIS is a creation of bashar al assad' and then they mention 'the choice is either him or isis'... Those two sentences are enough to prove the hogwash this "documentary" is.
