Description

When the world was in turmoil, three men went faster and farther than anyone thought possible. This is the story of the first people to leave the Earth and travel to the Moon, this is Apollo 8. In 1968 the battle for civil rights was turning Americans upon each other, the Vietnam War was raging, and the whole world felt the grip of the Cold War. Despite the odds, NASA made the bold decision to send Apollo 8 to the Moon ahead of schedule. This documentary tells the amazing story of the Apollo 8 mission and the three men that crewed it. Through restored archival films and audio, Apollo 8 Astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders tell you in their own words how their three different stories got them into the same tiny capsule pointed at the Moon — and what happened next.

  • Exceptional Documentary

First to the Moon is truly exceptional. It weaves together great historical footage from Gemini to Apollo to tell the story of the Apollo 8 mission, what went into it, and the men behind it but the thing that makes this movie so exceptional is the commentary from Borman, Lovell and Anders. This is their story and THEY are the ones who tell it in their own words. It’s mind boggling that the 3 men who made the journey are all still here to tell their stories and they make First to the Moon the best Apollo documentary I’ve seen.

“First to the Moon” is a finely crafted and visually stunning look at Apollo 8. Interviews, historical footage, and an exacting attention to detail make this a must see. Apollo 8 is one of the most important missions in NASA history, yet it’s often overshadowed by later Apollo missions. Check out this documentary and learn about the mission that helped humans see Earth for what it is, a “grand oasis in the big vastness of space.
