Visually stunning, though there is so much wrong with this story. Granted, it’s rooted in mythology, the tale could’ve still recurved a respectful polish & shine while remaining faithful to the source material. While the overarching plot is simple enough to grasp, the cliche themes are all over the place, fully formed with no buildup & no closure. It leave the movie experience feeling disingenuous & unbelievable. Why was she meditating for enlightenment in the beginning? We’ll never know because it’s never brought up again. Why did she transform at the climax after being separated from the hairpin? She was separated from in the the first quarter if the movie, so why no power unlock then? Why was their “love” so fully formed shortly after she woke up & after barely a day? There has to be Some growth, though like this it comes iff as creepy, rushed, & unbelievable. Why the tail from his dog? No answer. Why did the master turn evil at the end? I mean, something is offered, though it’s very thin & on a dime. This is a wasted opportunity because there was an excellent opportunity here to weave a bit more plot & situation to make her into a sympathetic villain. Why the whole story if they don’t even end up together in the end? I mean, that’s fine, though it strong armed the love story theme so hard that the end feels deflated. The guy’s married & it’s been 500 years… It’s not just America, this movies is just very lazy writing, i deleted this after watching it with my little kids saying, “yup, i’m sorry kids, that was a bad movie. You’re never going to have to suffer it again.”

This movie does not follow the original tale of the white snake who falls in love with a human. Instead it gives the background of why the white snake falls for the human. Hard story line to follow, with a battle of who’s the bigger baddy, and each Scene transition felt choppy with no real connection between the two characters. Nor do you get a better look into the main male protagonist’s back story or motivation for his actions. Great graphics and decent music. Not for little kids. Loved the faint snake scenes.
