Description

Although Clarence Thomas remains a controversial figure, few know him beyond his contentious confirmation battle. But beyond the headlines, Thomas’ life is a classic American tale: born poor in the segregated South, only to become one of the most influential justices in the highest court in the land. Created Equal tells Thomas’ life story truly and fully, without cover-ups or distortions.

I have never once taken the time to write a review on any movie for four decades of my life. This documentary was not only produced beautifully but it really was so balanced politically (as was his life!) and was able to take you through the life and the journey of Clarence Thomas. I didn’t know anything about him before I watched this. Sadly all i knew of him was what i see of him in the news today - so that sparked my curiosity to watch this documentary. I had NO IDEA how much of an activist he was on the liberal side growing up. I had no idea the persecution he came under during his confirmation to SCOTUS. This is a MUST WATCH no matter what your political affiliation is. It’s honestly just a documentary of his personal life and journey and it’s BALANCED on the political side because he experienced both sides of the spectrum but JUDGES as he should - without allowing his political preferences or beliefs to come into focus. It’s all about the constitution. Period. Fantastic documentary!!
  • No American idol

Clarence Thomas is a controversial figure. Many of these reviews seem infatuated and not very objective. His reversal of Roe removes an important right for women’s health care. Women will die because of this. The health care that women receive in America will be worse, more like what you’d expect in a backwater, third world country. I do, however, respect that at this point the court is more his than Roberts’. It should be noted he is notorious for sleeping on the bench, never asking questions and generally showing disdain for the judicial process. Unlike, say Antonio Scalia, his jurisprudence is haphazard and poorly reasoned. His wife also attempted to overthrow the US government, creating at the least the appearance of highly significant conflict of interest and impropriety. In conclusion, notable figure of the times. If/when people wonder why American society went off the rails, this documentary will help provide a piece to that puzzle.
  • What About his Wife?

Yeah so this "admirable man" has a wife who sent emails advocating for fake electors from Arizona, not the legitmately elected ones. His views are in the minority in the US including overturning Roe. Who's rights will he take away next? He does not care about ordinary people only cares about Power.
  • Great Documentary of a Great Man

I already liked Clarence Thomas before this documentary, but I have a deeper respect for the man after watching this. I encourage everyone to watch it, especially those who think they dislike him. Understand who Clarence Thomas is and what makes the Supreme Court Justice today.
  • Loved it

Dude is so flipping smart. Loved how his grandpa raised him…our only real Supreme Court justice.
  • Can’t spell “Thomas” without “Tom”

And that is just what Clarence is. An Uncle Tom. He can have documentarians try and claim he’s better than that, but we all know he’s just bitter that he can’t get a skin transplant surgery.
