Description

Sixteen-year-old Libby Wells returns from summer camp to the surprise introduction of her Mom's fiancée, John Smith, who emerges from the backyard lake, chiseled and glistening in the afternoon light. While her Mom nurses a foreign illness in the upstairs bedroom, John ignites a sexual curiosity in Libby and she slowly accepts his awkward, confusing advances. One night, Libby wakes to a piercing, amber light that cascades into her room from the depths of the lake outside. She spots John on the shore, basking in the luminance, until he walks into the water, completely submerges and then.... disappears as the light clicks off. Immediately, Libby questions John's outward perfection. Her suspicions raised, she quickly uncovers his true nature and sinister strategy, even as her Mother clings to his infectious charm.

What Lies Below in real life ? What Lies Below The Film Industry? This movie is not scary at all, but it is encouragement for birth control, thus… population control. They messed up on the cover design though, they should have arranged the blue and white colors beneath the surface with red and pink applied to the streaked up, ‘Geo-engineered’ skies above, that would be more accurate !!! !!! I read the reviews and I will add the following. Humans torment and kill animals in laboratories and other grotesque applications worldwide. Factory farming is completely VILE in and of itself. So, why does it shock, scare or creep people out… to entertain the thought of humans being the test subjects, meat suit incubators, or lab rats for a technologically advanced but equally barbaric species? Both scenarios are hideous, so why is one atrocity acceptable in the minds of the masses and the other is not? Oh yeah… spoiler alert.

If you’re looking for a film that will push you to feel that skin crawling creepy, then this is your film. You’ll find yourself audibly gasping at parts. Can it get creepier? Yes, it can and DOES. The ending is a cliffhanger. BUT if you watch the film again it makes way more sense. There’s so much nuanced detail!! Overall, great acting and a visually beautiful film. Ahhhh — Give me a sequel!!

I walked into this movie thinking that this was going to be over the top creepy, AND IT WAS. It’s slow, but that is what makes it all the creepier. Pacing is key. It’s roots are strong, and definitely have you at the edge of your seat questioning everything. GREAT MOVIE.
