  • An interesting movie

After reading all the bad reviews, I suspected this movie to be a bomb. While it was not at the level of The Miracle Worker or Rain Man, it was still interesting. The story was formulaic but the acting was top notch and the music videos were typical Sia. Kate Hudson, while not Sia, did a surprisingly good rendition of the songs, but I highly recommend the Music album in which Sia does all the singing. Once of her best albums to date. Don't listen all the ableist trolls. They would probably say the same things about the classics The Miracle Worker and Rain Man.

The entire cast was great, but for me Maddie and Kate both stood out giving stellar performance’s. The movie was thoughtful, and the tone was perfect from beginning to end.

I went into this aware of the controversy that surrounded it, but beneath all that is a heartfelt spectacular film. Sia’s vision for these characters were brought to life by a standout performance by Kate Hudson. Maddie Ziegler shines in her role as Music. If you’re able to get passed the casting choice (not everyone will and that’s understandable), I’d recommend this film.

Luckily for us, there are people like Sia in this world. Very VERY few.. but they exist. She is an absolute entertainer and creates amazing art with everything she touches. Not to mention an awesome storyteller.. most people in these comments CLEARLY have deep seeded issues that stretch far beyond what they think of this movie. I would recommend they set their phones down and go check themselves in somewhere and get professional help😂👍🏼like seriously though.. if you can’t get over themselves for 5 seconds and just realize what the bigger picture of the story is then you obviously don’t know your head from your butt and should just shut up. Go stick your head in a hole somewhere and just leave everyone else that actually has a brain alone. If you genuinely thought the movie didn’t meet your production standards and wasn’t well thought out or creative then say it. But this whole being offended left and right crap is embarrassing. The movie is obviously well thought out, creative, and the people that made it meant well. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the beauty in what Sia does. I wish we had more people doing what she does and the world would be a much better place!! Keep it up Sia!!!
  • Life & Perspective

I thought the movie was good insofar as it addressed a family dealing with life’s real-world challenges (i.e., a caring family member who dies and has a disabled loved one left behind in an unforgiving world combined with drug addiction family members, and financial challenges). Let’s be realistic, there are not many films that highlight people with disabilities. Nor does the average country that produces quality films promote that perspective regularly with the plethora of potential stories to tell of disabled individuals. Lord knows everyone doesn’t have a loving family and you are blessed if you do! While I personally do not have any autistic family members, I know several coworkers whose families are dealing with these issues. So, we all know every human being has a different personality, therefor every type of disability is different too. I respect those who may have felt this was not a reasonable interpretation of the character Music, but in my view the Music character illustrated played a good role. My sister has a disability and I definitely felt how society can misjudge people out living their lives when an episode can happen. My sister doesn’t like walking on grass as an example and could easily place herself in harms way due to bicycle or vehicular traffic. Can you just image an impatient driver’s attitude? It’s like a child running into the street not aware of oncoming traffic. Hopefully, patience and grace rule over that day. I liked the film and I’m glad they made the movie that could increase awareness of how diverse we are as a society. May God bless you all.
