Demuestra que se puede hacer buen cine en Centroamérica. El realismo mágico latinoamericano, para denunciar el genocidio de los habitantes mayas en Guatemala por los grupos militares represivos.
  • A drama with a political theme! Very boring!

This film seems to have been made as a prologue for the curse “La llorona”! You won’t find scares, fear ou suspense! If you watch the trailer, you don’t need to watch anything else. There is nothing to add!

This is a beautiful film which has the myth of La Llorona at its root. It is so cleverly told that you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was to how it folds the story into its political narrative. Don't miss this one espcially if you are looking for a more intelligent horror film. It is not heavy on gore or jump scares, but rather the horror and impact of genocide on innocent victims. Overall and excellent and artful film.

When I read a review obviously coming from anger and making a case by destroying the work of others, I don’t buy it. I still wonder what the Conjuring has to do with this? I don’t think I’ll rent this one.

Not the movie you would expect. Very slow burn attempt at horror movie based on the legend that meanders and ponders when action should be occurring. Would only watch again if was featured on the Last Drive In.
  • This is NOT that stupid Conjuring spin-off movie

This film isn’t the one you probably assume it is — the one that came out over a year ago and bombed terribly because it was nothing but a low effort movie trying to make money off of its extremely vague & tenuous connection to the two “The Conjuring” movies — yeah, this isn’t that movie. What is this movie about then, you ask? Well, why give away the fun when you can go in blind, not knowing a thing about it, and be pleasantly surprised at its quality. Not just “for a Horror movie,” either. I mean this movie is well made and the screenplay is fiendishly creative. I expect most Horror fans to be impressed by this one, but of course there will always be some “horror fans” who bash anything that isn’t a Conjuring movie, (they think those movies are actually good lol). Then there are a few people who want to turn their brains off and watch random female nudity, lots of blood, and a jump “scare” (or “twist”) every 90 seconds — so in other words: they don’t want to be surprised, or be challenged by a story that’s original enough to keep them from predicting where it’s going etc. SO, are you interested in watching a genuinely creepy film with an original premise? Can you speak Spanish? If not, then can you read this review I’m writing in English? Great! That means you have zero excuses for not checking this one out. Cheers.

This has been on Shudder for a year. And it’s a 2020 movie. Not 2021. That’s a lie.
