Description

"Y’all wanna hear a story about why me & this bitch here fell out? It’s kind of long but full of suspense”. Thus began the odyssey of one A’Ziah King, aka ZOLA. From acclaimed writer/director Janicza Bravo, Zola's stranger than fiction saga, which she first told in a now iconic series of viral, uproarious tweets, comes to dazzling cinematic life. Zola (Taylour Paige), a Detroit waitress, strikes up a new friendship with a customer, Stefani (Riley Keough), who seduces her to join a weekend of dancing and partying in Florida. What at first seems like a glamorous trip full of “hoeism” rapidly transforms into a 48-hour journey involving a nameless pimp, an idiot boyfriend, some Tampa gangsters and other unexpected adventures in this wild, see-it-to-believe-it tale.

Jeremy O’Harris is a great writer but in this case the production should have stuck to the original Tweets…it’s all there. The omission of a few key parts makes this film version pretty feeble in comparison to the outrageous story Aziah King tells so brilliantly. Great cast, especially Taylour Paige.

Why would someone waste the time, money and effort on such a film. You would be better off reading this as a short crime story in the newspaper or on a local news crime report. The actress Taylor Paige is the only thing that held me to continue watching but she should never have taken the role. Not worth the renting, not worth watching

Sometimes it’s a treat to watch a film that is like a choose your own adventure but the choices aren’t your own. I was living for Ms Riley 🤣😂💅🏽💸👛

Boring and poorly directed. It also bothers me that the real story was not even true. The few parts that make this so salacious are the parts that did not happen. This was written by a sociopath who needed her 15 minutes of fame on Twitter. Then they make a movie about it?? Tsk tsk. Bad idea
