Description

Ben Givens (Tom Skerritt), a retired heart surgeon and recent widower, learns he has terminal cancer. Determined to navigate his final days on his own terms, he shares the news with no one - not even his daughter (Mira Sorvino) - instead traveling back to his boyhood home in Eastern Washington with only his dog in tow. But the journey does not go as planned; the familiar landscape triggers memories and a connection with a kind stranger (Annie Gonzalez) inspires new insight. Based on David Guterson's best-selling novel and unfolding against the scenic vistas of the Columbia Basin, this compelling character study offers a long-overdue showcase for one of cinema’s greatest treasures.

Pointless and disjointed. Captures the emotional effects of age-induced confusion really well. Not really an entertaining subject.

I love Tom Skerritt and Mira Sorvino but this film does not deserve the credit it was given. The 100% Tomatometer score is totally milsleading (15% would be more than fair). On the other hand Annie Gonzalez and Wally Dalton shone and avoided a major disaster.

This movie is just about an older man facing the loss of his wife & confronting his own death. To be honest its very boring there is zero tense or moments of action most ppl would not enjoy this movie.

This film is beautifully directed by someone who clearly understands and wants us to understand and see the nuances of this complex character beautifully played by Tom Skerritt. I am so thankful for a director that realizes we are smart audience members. We will actually follow something told in a much more nuanced way. Wow. SJ Chiro guides us with her beautiful cinematography by Sebastian Scanduzzi. SJ unwinds a story. Skerritt allows us to see an unwinding of his character. It’s a beautiful partnership.
