It is hard to trust professional reviews. Lately it seems like they have gotten worse than normal. You have to expect a bit of inaccuracy when you are taking someone else’s word for something. I read reviews that made this movie out to be the worst spy movie made. It is in fact more action than espionage thriller. Think of it as a watered down Mission Impossible. This is a far better Chastain film than her movie Anna was. There were definitely a couple of things in this film that could have been left on the cutting room floor, or left in the deleted bin of the NLE the editor and director used to add in some useless looking effects. I do feel like this movie was unfairly judged in reviews by guys who just hate seeing women on action roles. As long as a script, acting and cinematography are executed well, there really should be no reason that there be a difference in quality between a man or woman being the action hero. Ignoring the few parts that were shot with impossible sequences where the effects looked bad or the continuity was interrupted, this was still a solid film worthy of the 4-star rating. If the story could have been a bit longer and maybe add more substance to it, to beef up the story more like an Olen Steinhauer spy novel, to make it less like an early Mission Impossible film.

What should have been an exciting action-packed spy thriller turned out to be a poor man's Mission Impossible. It definitely had potential with a female-dominated cast. They could've used Sebastian Stan's character more but I felt his talent was wasted. I wouldn't recommend this.

Ignore the haters on this film. Enjoyed the storyline, action, cast development & overall entertainment of the movie. Not sure why the negative reviews. Maybe some misogyny going on, who knows. Worth the watch.
