Like seriously, WTAF? I couldn’t even get past 20 minutes and had enough. The original was cheesy, but in a good cheesy way. THIS, was just terrible! WHY? And they give people money to make these…

The original was not excellent neither. Both are kind of slow and with awful SFX.

Terrible movie. Feel bad for the actors in it - especially if they thought this would be their claim to stardom.

There is only one question that I must ask. Why?

The only real reason people wanted to see this was because of Zac Efron and they didn’t care about was actually happening. The only movie from Blumhouse that looks really good is one that’s called Black Phone
  • I guess anyone can write a screenplay

The whole premise of the original story, that of a young girl being manipulated and betrayed, was absent from this stinker. From the very beginning, Charlie was taught to use her powers to kill when necessary, not to fear them as she did in the original movie and the book. I don’t know what the screenwriters were trying to do, but they wrote the first half of the book with their screenplay and then just skipped right to the finale. Very lazy storytelling. This would have made an appropriate sequel to Brightburn if they changed her powers a bit and didn’t promote it as Firestarter, but even so, there wasn’t a lot of meat to this story.
  • Not good.

It makes the 80’s film look like a masterpiece (which it’s not). Once a sign of quality, it seems Blumhouse will produce anything nowadays. Blumhouse has become a warning that whatever follows probably isn’t any good. Though the acting is fine, do yourself a favor and skip this lackluster dud.
