History comes alive in the unforgettable epic motion picture Pearl Harbor, the spectacular blockbuster brought to the screen by Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay. Astounding visual and audio effects put you at the center of the event that changed the world -- that early Sunday morning in paradise when warplanes screamed across the peaceful skies of Pearl Harbor and jolted America into World War II. This real-life tale of catastrophic defeat, heroic victory, and personal courage focuses on the war's devastating impact on two daring young pilots, Ben Affleck (Armageddon) and Josh Hartnet (Black Hawk Down), and a beautiful, dedicated nurse, Kate Beckinsale (Serendipity). Pearl Harbor is extraordinary moviemaking -- a breathtaking reenactment of the "date which will live in infamy" and a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who lived it.

  • iTunes & Apple TV Extras and 4K needed

Good movie, especially Ben Affleck being the lead actor; but can you add Special Features and iTunes Extras with extended version as well? This is really annoying to me when the Special Features appear on the Home Video releases of movies, but not on iTunes because technology is advancing everyday.
  • Not worth it

One of the worst movies I ever saw. I would not recommend this movie to anyone who would like some sort of historic accuracy.

  • Hilariously Awful When You’re Not Asleep

Despite the absolutely incredible 30-40 minute attack sequence in the second act that is sure to awe audiences everywhere, the other 150 minutes of Pearl Harbor are filled with senseless romance, dull direction, a bafflingly atrocious screenplay and wooden performances. 3/10 Personal Notes: This is one of the worst films I’ve ever seen, comparative to budget and quality. No movie with $140 million put into it should be this bad. There’s two blatantly obvious things about why this movie is terrible: Michael Bay was clearly only invested in directing the Pearl Harbor sequence; it’s pretty obvious when you compare how spectacular the bombing scenes are to the rest of the movie. The rest of the movie is so dull and boring. The other blatant aspect is that this movie tried to be the Titanic of war movies. An epic three-hour plus runtime, a romance story with a historical disaster in the background? Yeah, it’s trying to be another Titanic. And it fails, miserably. The ONLY reason this isn’t a one star score is because of the attack sequence. That’s it. That’s the only good part of the movie. Everything else is awful. How in the world does this have so many five-star reviews on here? The movie’s not good! At all! It disrespects the lives lost there and the real heroes of that day by trying to be some corny romance fan fiction of history directed at teenagers. Teen girls who like corny romance and teen boys who only care about explosions and action in movies. Those are the only people who like this movie, people who were teenagers at the time of watching it.

Bay gets a bad rap for his overtop explosions, but honestly his films aren’t as bad as people say. Pearl Harbor is a favorite of mine along with Armageddon and secret soldiers of Benghazi. Enjoy the film for what it is, fantastic action pieces and a decent story.

All you gotta know is that you need to watch and if you already did watch it again.

  • Old fashion melodrama and spectacle

    By Fletch F. Fletch
Any sheltered person that honestly thinks that war movies and love stories are mutually exclusive have seen very few movies, and only recent ones. This was an old fashioned melodrama and tragedy / action spectacle that have been a hallmark of film since Gone with the friggin Wind. Not all of it works, but a lot of it does. The cast assembled is impressive, the technical merits stand up even now years later, the scope is epic and it includes even a certain amount of time and detail is given to the Japanese perspective. The love story works and doesn’t work. It takes up too much screen time and Beckinsale in context of that part of movie becomes frustrating otherwise she is very good. Cuba Gooding Jr is probably the best part of the film but deserved much more screen time. The attack scene is especially impressive and worth viewing along with military lead up outside of the love story. If the romantic angle wasn’t quite as prominent it would have run a little more smoothly.
