  • Totally under appreciated film

I don't get why this movie wasn't more successful because it's just excellent thru and thru. It has an 1950s era feel to it and that's totally intentional. If you can't see the film thru that lens you may very well end up not liking it. The cast alone makes it totally worth watching. The story of how the film got made is also a great American success story and if you can find that documentary short it is also worth a watch.
  • A fresh take on old fashioned Saturday Morning Serials

What I really liked about this film was very much just one of the things I loved about 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' in that it took me back to the old fashioned formula of Saturday Serials from when television was in its infancy. It also paid homage to some of the thoughts and ideas about the future people had during the 1930's. As outdated as some may find that today, it still is a nice treat to see a movie like this. Entertaining, imaginative, and fun.
  • "WAIST OF TIME"…...

First of all ,The thing that i found funny was in the trailer they had to use another films musical theme to pull off the trailer, it was from the movie "Stargate" , to cheap to even do a well made score. the film it self was so,so, .something I'm glade i did not pay to go see, it could have been a great film if they had a better team. I feel sad for the actors who had to have this add to there film archive. sad, very sad. I understand what they were going for but they hugely missed on this one.Bad art direction. BAD script. -but "Stargate" REALLY , I mean REALLY-…..

This is a very, very entertaining film IF you can understand why they made it. It is an homage to the old theater serials, and was made in that style. It is one of the best adventure films ever made, and is extemely fun to watch. But only watch it if you are able to use your imagination and creativity.
  • Almost good

The effects are imaginative (especially the appearance of a long deceased in real life legendary actor), the premise is good and the production design is gorgeous. On the other hand, it's not well cast, with Gwenyth Paltrow as perhaps the most obnoxious female lead in recent memory. You will root for her demise up until the end credits. The film itself seems to be missing a soul. There's a real lack of urgency or danger and a result it is often dull despite it's impressive scenery. Some love it, but there is a reason it was met with a thud at the box office. The short film was better.
  • A truly great neo-retro movie

Man, this movie is great. It has that retro feel to it. It looks almost like something you would have read about in the pulp comics of the 1930's. I mean, for real. It has robots, airplanes, and science fiction devices that I swear looked like something I would have seen in a 1940's serial. I solute this movie for being that kind of awesome! I recommend this to anyone who enjoys Buck Rogers, Commando Cody, or has read any of the Blackhawks comics. BTW, even though this movie is awesome there is something I must clearly point out. The newspapers from all over the world show the robot invasion that's going on. It's a great scene.....except when they showed the Japanese newspapers. Why? Because Godzilla, a creature from the 1950's til today, is in a 1940's era...........silly ain't it?

Saw this movie for the first time just very recently, a good 6 years after it came out in the movies. I love how this movie looks, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The inspirations that the art team used for the designs in the movie are genius.
  • A fun, gee whiz movie

This movie is lots of fun. Yes, the music in the trailer is from Stargate. Trailers often cop music from previous films because the music is the last thing in the film making process. They want the trailer out to hype the film. For instance, the trailer music for Russell Crowe's Gladiator is from Conan the Barbarian.
  • Good attempt, Can't ignore ripped off music.

I could live with the forced acting and the blurred sudo old-timey graphics because all-in-all I did watch it all the way through and mostly liked it. Think Sin City with color, wearing someone elses eye glasses, and a plot for 10yr olds. It was fun to watch! Still, the SG-1 theme song rip off is really obvious and unforgivable.
