    I first saw this movie in the cinema around the age of 14-15 and I remember loving the beautiful dresses and I knew it was a love story but it wasn't till my 20s that I revisited the story and the movie and I have to say it made me feel an immense variation of feelings! I am in love with this story! It is beautifully crafted by a true artist, Martin Scorsese. He shows us the contrast so well on how everything seems so beautiful and yet how society was so brutal. Violent in a sense and in the midst two hearts that can't unit because of this hypocritical lifestyle. Beautiful, heart wrenching and yes, a true classic!

    It's a long slog, dry and very tough to connect to the characters. Or is it the acting? The directing is probably at fault. This movie takes itself too seriously. There is little humor or charm but lots of pretty houses filled with overstuffed furniture.

    While the acting was great, this movie dragged at several points. I love the original story, but I had to force myself to watch this until it got to the more interesting parts.

    I first fell in love with Edith Wharton when I read "Summer". Then proceeded to fall in love all over again with "The Age of Innocence". I was a little aprehensive about watching the film adaptation, but soon came to realize the brilliant performance of the cast. Not to mention the directing! It's a definate 5 star movie, a must see!
