Description

Named after the event itself, St. Valentine’s Day Massacre chronicles the Chicago gangster wars of the 1920s. The terrible true-life events of February 14, 1929 thrust gangster Al Capone into the national spotlight, but marked the beginning of the end of Chicago's criminal empire. Rival Chicago mobsters Al Capone and Bugs Moran battle for control of the city’s crime element - which leads to a bloody showdown in which Capone’s men, dressed as policeman, kill seven key members of Moran’s gang in a warehouse. Jack Nicholson makes a cameo appearance in what is one of his first screen roles.

Robards, a fine actor, is miscast here as Capone, but George Segal, Ralph Meeker, David Canary and the rest are perfect B-Movie mobsters in this bloody, brutal and often grimly humorous retelling of the most infamous "hit" of the Chicago beer wars.

This is undoubtedly the best film Roger Corman has ever made. That alone makes it awesome. Also, one of the best gangster films from the 60's.

i think this really is a good movie. Especially for being put around a great but dangerous Al Capone. But i do think that Robert De Niro played Al Capone better in the "Untouchables" than the guy who played him in this movie. But it really shows how life was back in the 1920's and 30's. All together it is a really good movie.
