Description

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton join forces again in a big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical thriller "Sweeney Todd." Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, Sweeney Todd becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who "shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again." Joining Depp is Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney's amorous accomplice, who creates diabolical meat pies. The cast also includes Alan Rickman, who portrays the evil Judge Turpin, who sends Sweeney to prison and Timothy Spall as the Judge's wicked associate Beadle Bamford and Sacha Baron Cohen is a rival barber, the flamboyant Signor Adolfo Pirelli.

I know it might be weird to some people, but I thought that this movie even though being kind of scary, and dreadfully unfortunate, I thought that, as such a sorrowful story, it was yet so pretty. It was well done, and I think that the roles were played great with the actors that were given those parts and it couldn’t have been any other way. The music was touching, not always in a sweet and sad way, but gave off emotions that described anger, sadness, some happiness, mischief, fear, and beauty. I loved it. Great job Tim.

when i first watched this musical macabra it was darker than other tim burton movies. It was violent and gory at times but what really made this movie so good was because of the fantastic musical numbers that pinpointed in this dinomatie musical.

The songs were cheesy. I like Tim Burton films, and although the design was good, the story was horrible. The end is unsatisfying and does not wrap up the film well. You will not listen to my review, but you will understand and agree after you watch it. So watch it, and admit you just wasted 2 hours of your life.

Absolutely dreadful big screen adaptation of the Tony award winning musical “Sweeney Todd”. Despite the notable performances by supporting actors Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall, it is the horribly miscast Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in the leading roles that ruins the entire film. Their off key singing and dismal lackluster performances overshadow anything that might have been remotely redeeming about this terrible film.
