A recently found longer prerelease British print (Side B) offers "a startling amplification of Bruno's flamboyance, his homoerotic attraction to Guy and his psychotic personality," according to Bill Desowitz of Film Comment. The laying bare of Bruno's hidden nature, along with the great set pieces (head-turning tennis match, disintegrating carousel) and suspense as only Hitchcock can deliver, makes for a first-class trip.

  • Good idea in theory-extremely poor screenplay& film

    The premise is good but to then show up at the house/party and explain why poison is a bad idea but then demonstrates how the person most, if not everyone @the party knew, died in your pointless example of how you just killed the person in question is just plain dumb. He puts the gun down WHY ON EARTH WOUOD YOU DO THST!!? I thought this was supposed to be a classic.

    It’s not exactly my go-to Hitchcock movie (North By Northwest) but nonetheless this is still an expertly made movie that is worth anyone’s time to see, just like any of Hitchcock’s best works. I’m aware the man was notoriously difficult to work with, but watching any number of his films will show that the results speed for themselves

    Alfred Hitchcock's film is nothing short of a masterpiece. Robert Walker's character, Bruno Antony, is a study of a crazed psychopath that is frightening. Farley Granger's Guy Haines is not a sympathetic character, rather he is unlikeable.Mr. Hitchcock involves the viewer totally with these two characters. Ruth Roman is very good as the more than understanding, yet wary girlfriend. An excellent film.

    I loved it! it is somewhat disturbing, as well as interesting. it has all of the elements hitchcock was known for, macabre obbsession with murder and an insane psychopath as a major character, one of my favorite hitchcock movies, only seconded by "the man who knew too much" Criss-Cross......

    You cannot afford to not watch this, whether you're a self proclaimed classic film buff, or someone that hates black & white cinema, you will love this film! Guaranteed! If you don't like it maybe you should think about reading books rather than watching movies, because this is about as good as it gets!
