Very glad to find this movie here on itunes again – I watched it in the early 80's and was thrilled by it from the beginning until the very surprising end. Very intelligent, well-written and well-performed! The cast is also perfect.

This is a fantastic example of how a "whodunit" should be done. The actors are excellent in their roles, the character and story development are complex, and the story and suspense never let up. And James Coburn is just cool, as always:)

I came across this movie by chance. The pacing, suspense, acting are all top notch. This is a movie film students should study. It is well worth the time spent viewing.

The story and plot are so well crafted even the title is a clue!

It's amazing that this movie has not become a classic with the acting pedigree , the photography, writing and especially the twist at the end. This is the first movie I have bought without having the original disc. The reason for this is that I do not want to wait again to have it be shown on late night tv again.

I respect actors who are dedicated to their craft and do not worry about how a part will affect their public persona. James Coburn is such and actor, and he is great as the caustic widower trying to identify his wife's killer. This dark fun comedy includes James Mason and Dyan Cannon who are fantastic. Dick Benjamin is always worth watching. Ian McShane, Raquel Welch and Joan Hackett (I like her voice.) put over good performances. The story is a little more complicated than the writers are given credit for. Perkins and Sondheim did a great job. Once you realize how the game is put together and the relationships of the characters to each other, you will enjoy the film more. For students of scriptwriting, character building and story plotting, this is a very good example to follow.

Total 70's mystery with a mix of humor, tension and one or two cheesey lines. The reveal is good and surprising.
