Description

Based on the hugely popular video game, Doom Unrated is full of more explosive action-packed thrills not shown in theaters! A frantic call for help from a remote research station on Mars sends a team of mercenary Marines into action. Led by The Rock and Karl Urban, they descend into the Olduvai Research Station, where they find a legion of nightmarish creatures, lurking in the darkness, killing at will. Once there, the Marines must use an arsenal of firepower to carry out their mission: nothing gets out alive.

This is a cheesy action flick. It goes along with the premise of the game, but not to a metaphorical "T". It wasn't meant to be a substantial box office hit. It's what it is. I enjoy the movie for what it is. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Currently, the only way to view this movie(unrated version) is to buy it...but, I didn't want to buy it. Rather, I wanted to rent it. So, iTunes, you "lost" a sale. I wonder how many other people have "passed it by" for the same reasons? Ironically, the theatrical version is for rent ($3.99), but I only wanted the "unrated" version--which is 8 minutes longer than the theatrical version.

For a long time I kinda hated this movie, but when I bought another copy (due to losing my first copy to water damage) and watched it again, it was still kinda bad but it was and, still is, fun to just sit and watch.
  • It is not bad at all.

Out of all video game movies I've seen in my life, this one ranks number one. I must say I am a Doom fan and have played both original games and the 3rd. The movie, though many hardcore fans have panned with bad reviews, in my opinion did a good job and was enjoyable to watch from the begining to end. And let's face it. Hollywood is hollywood and you can never expect to have any movie based off of anything to be extremely acurate. No, they didn't include every enemy from the game. No, the story behind the demons wasn't perfectly acurate. No, the BFG didn't look as awesome as the one in the game, but not every person that watched this movie played Doom. And let's just remember that this movie was nearly two hours long and trying to fit any other aspect of the game into it would just make it longer. In conclusion, I believe this movie was great and anybody that's a fan of Doom would enjoy this movie, even though it's not completely true to the original games.
  • Don't know why this did so bad in theaters??

I don't care what you all say, Doom the movie was a ride! And whoever has played the game and hates the movie, is not true doom fan. So, peace out...here is my two cents: This movie is based on the game as best as it could be. If they made it just like the game, it would not be as interesting. The game is the game, the movie is the movie...so it's not just targeting gamers but also people who have not played the game. The fact that the creation of this movie is not full CGI is amazing, the monsters or most of them are suits made to the most realistic appearance, the plot of the movie was way intense...the fact that people were turned into monsters with the C24, was because they had some degree to do bad, those that did good were immune and became super humans. Quoting Sam: "It's choosing" sure tells us the truth behind this. Totally awesome! The Sarge had his fate for this same reason, so "as the kid said...go to hell!" This movie rocked.
