I can only wish this was filmed with the original cast. They were incredible. I don’t get the movie disses though - frankly, as much as I love the play, I actually prefer the movie version.

No review that I write can even come close to explaining the masterpiece that is this musical. So much passion, drama, love. Been a favorite of mine since I was in middle school.

Jonathan Larson gives us a master work that speaks out to audiences all across New York City. The phenomenal cast delivers the highest potential the script and score have that isn't found anywhere else. A hands up especially to Will Chase, who made Roger Davis my favorite character in the show!

525,600 minutes. Ever since I first heard the music, I have really wanted to see Rent. I felt like there was no way I could because it seems to have disappeared some. This will probably be the closest I got to it. While Rent is a sad show, it has a very amazing message.I can't get the no day but today melody out of my head. After seeing this version, Rent started becoming a more meaningful part of my life.No day but today.

I love RENT. I first saw the movie and fell in love with it, I can't count how many times I've seen the movie. Then I realized that there were things missing from the movie so I bought the OBC soundtrack and without even seeing the cast act it onstage (though Daphne's voice is hard to bear sometimes without her acting to support it) I cried hysterically. There was just so much more to the characters and their relationships that was lost in the movie. So then I started watching videos and trying to find clips of the OBC doing it on stage, maybe a bootleg. I think I've watched every possible version of this show, including Hollywood Bowl, RENT10, videos from the National Tour, the 2011 off-broadway revival and even videos of schools doing the show. I tried to steer clear of this for a while, I'm not quite sure why, but I did. I was very loyal to the OBC for a long time. When I watched it at first, I was impressed. I love Will Chase to death, and I enjoyed his interpretation of Roger; it was much more emotional and angry than Pascal's Roger. I really enjoyed Renee, mostly because of her strong voice and her energy. There were some times when I didn't agree with her choices… like when she almost fights Roger back in "Goodbye Love" and when she's dying but her singing voice is still strong. All in all the performances were good, some great, but I didn't feel some of them held a candle to the OBC/movie cast (in the case of Rosario Dawson). Also the main thing I really resent about "RENT: filmed live on broadway" is the fact that there are so many different cameras. Sometimes it's nice to have a close up but there's definitely something to seeing the entire thing at once, as if you were actually watching the show, instead of seeing little snipets of people doing things, like in a movie. When this happens, I feel, especially in scenes like La Vie Boheme, some of the energy is lost. HOWEVER… ALL OF THIS SAID: This is still worth watching, especially if you've never seen the entire BROADWAY show the whole way through.

There is no better day then today to watch this show!!! Nothing beats the original cast ( which I can personally assure you was the best of the best) however this ending cast has two members of the obc and combined with the other amazing talents is a force to be reckoned with. Make sure Jonathan Larson's creation lives on forever and become a part of the movement as well!

This groundbreaking musical is a must have to own. The cast did a phenominal job portraying Jonathan Larson's characters with such raw emotion. I had my doubts after watching the movie version with the original cast, but this version just proves that the only way you are going to truly feel the love measured with every breath is from a stage performance. Brings me to tears every time.
