Ulysses

I bought this expecting the English version but it is in Italian with subtitles. I went back to see if I should have figured this out and at the very bottom it does note it is in Italian but why would I be looking at what language the film was in when it would be expected to be English if they didn't make it clear in the description. Current movies also have non-English versions. Do I have to check each of those to make sure Apple is selling the English version? That is ridiculous.

Awesome movie but need the American version if you could? Thank you!

This 1954 Italian film, with English subtitles, (that’s not stated in the description information, but seen if you watch the preview). It features mostly Italian actors, with the great Kirk Douglas as Ulysses, and Anthony Quinn. There is also a version with English voices overdubbing the Italian, which gives the jarring effect of seeing the actor’s mouth‘s moving while no words are heard. Nevertheless, the Ulysses/Odyssey story is a classic and this production is quite good. I disagree with Leonard Martin that the film “lumbers” along. It was an enjoyably-paced adventure for me. I think the acting is quite good, and all the important plot points are well presented. If you don’t care for reading the subtitles, get the English overdubbed version. It is easier to watch, and is available, just not on iTunes Store. The next year, in 1955, Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn would again act together, in the fantastic Minnelli film about Vincent Van Gogh, “Lust For Life”. Douglas’ Vincent is riveting, and Quinn plays Paul Gaugin to perfection. “You paint too fast!!” “You LOOK too fast!” LFL IS available on iTS.

Great movie, but why the Italian version? Makes no sense. To me, anyway, especially because I don't speak Italian. Like I said, still a great movie, just a great movie with annoyingly inaccurate subtitles (though I do like how Ulysses calls all of his friends "pals")

This is a great movie. It's a shame the average American can't understand it. This movie is in Italian. The average American speaks English. High schools teach English as a primary language and Spanish or French as a secondary language. This isn't Europe! Even though you have iconic actors such as Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn, you lose out on their acting ability because this movie has been dubbed and someone else is speaking over them. If iTunes wishes to sell this movie in Italian, they should sell it in Italy. Here in The United States, we prefer it in English. I know there are English subtitles. No one wants to read an American made movie dubbed in Italian! I ask that Apple please read the customer reviews and make the appropriate correction.

THIS MOVIE IS IN ITALIAN AND SUBTITLED DO NOT RENT IF YOU WANT IT IN ENGLISH!

I ordered this movie with the understanding that it was in english because I have seen it before in english, not so. The movie was subtitled, but not advertised as such. I wrote a complaint to apple stating I wanted to be credited for my purchased on my credit card. I not only was not given credit but was not even given a reply. I purchased a apple tv just just a few weeks ago and due to the incident I will not buy or rent from iTunes until this is resolved.

It's not clear from this movie's description that the film is IN ITALIAN with English subtitles. Please, iTunes, make that more clear!
