Watching this Bond classic one can easily imagine a modern well funded space program dealing crime syndicate edging the U.S. and Russia towards oblivion.
  • A good movie, though not a great one.

The film was badly marred with Nancy Sinatra’s off-key rendition of “You Only Live Twice,” and the space scenes are badly dated and improbable; the acting was so-so compared to other Bond films and the screenplay left too many missed opportunities and just didn’t strike me as worthy of being a Bond film. Could have been more adroitly done with Pee Wee Herman in the lead role. Most of the characters were very cliche, cookie-cutter stamped right out of the dough of typecasts. The movie left a lot be be desired as a result, especially with its violence, a monument to excess.

This is the best Bond in my opinion. It has all the features that make Bond movies great. An exotic local, great song sung by Nancy Sinatra, (on the same level as Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger) Tons of gadgets and wonderful violence! It’s also sexist as hell (which is why we love Bond movies in the first place). And last but not least it has tons of double entendres! “in Japan men “come" first Mr Bond" And if all that isn’t enough (and it is) it features Donald Pleasence as the bad guy! (with a cat no less!) Perfect!

Turn the suspension of disbelief up to 11 and sit back an just enjoy this one. Not the best Bond by any means but still my favorite. It's just impossible to trump Ninja's storming a secret launch pad HQ hidden in a volcano. Even armed with rocket guns and shuriken you can't top that.

The best part of the movie is the opening sequence. Then the BEST Bond song ever sung by Nancy Sinatra. Hands dow this movie is in my top 5 bond movies.
  • A slow start

Ninjas, guns and a WW3 outcome if Bond doesn't get it done! What's not to like??? Takes place in Japan mostly. Bad guys go into space and capture one soviet and one American space craft. Each country blames the other Bond has to stop it all. Very slow start .... Rent it first
  • Meet Number 1!

Sean Connery does an impressive job at 007 on a mission to prevent a possible WW3 due to a Specter spacecraft heist. With lines that recall the 60s such as "What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?" the viewer is brought back to the early days of the space program. This is the first movie where we actually see Number 1 well portrayed by Donald Pleasance as Blofield. The haunting music by Nancy Sinatra adds to the beauty of Japan. Course no Bond feature is complete without "M" and "Q" with his state of the art gadgets used in the helicoper sequence. It is definitely worth adding to the collection if you like Sean Connery.
