A very thought provoking movie. Makes you want to think if it were possible, would you live like this? Check the movie out.

The movie is difficult to watch, but if you can get into the scenario and let go of some of the gaps in the plot it can be enjoyable. The idea is that everyone lives their life staying at home and only a robot likeness of themselves goes out into public. Sort of says a lot about people and vanity.

The writers felt it was more important to make a "get off the couch" statement than suspend the audience disbelief. For instance, one of the plot devices requires us to believe that there is, for all intents an purposes, global acceptance of this technology. Then does that mean there are homeless people with surrogates? Bottom line, global acceptance is boring. And yes, the writers did attempt to depict groups of people who chose not to accept this technology. But what about the people who couldn't? It seems like the story might have been more believable if class warfare was front-and-center instead of the "hey get off the couch" motif. The people who didn't use surrogates seemed like they were all zealots. But maybe a better approach would have been to depict them as the underclass. It wouldn't have required a heap of rewriting, just a few extra scenes showing how the people who can't afford surrogates have to put up with the occasional zealots around them causing trouble.

This movie is very cool, and although it's hard to make a "different" robot movie with all the others out there, it did it. The movie was defiantly original unlike some reviews claim. It was highly entertaining and I have watched it several times.

It was entertainment if you are on a plane and they have no movie. Didn't care much for it but still love Bruce Willis! Pretty disappointed.

Am I the only one that thought this was about Bruce Willis carrying a gay couple's baby? Deceiving title.

What starts off with promise, ends in a crushing blow to your personal time, i.e., I wish I had done about 4 "to-do's" instead of watching this movie. As a combination of I-Robot and A-I, this movie lacks any real creativity, but luckily has sub-par special effects. Bruce Willis, is as always, great as a "cop" regardless of the time period. Ving Rhames, well, he just doesn't get the job done. Couple this with the fact that humans that don't believe in Surrogates live in absolute poverty, but humans that believe in Surrogates can go to college and party their butts off without the fears of the then current human population (illness, STD's, accidents, etc.) and the whole thing falls apart. This concept probably looked pretty good when it was originally inked on a cocktail napkin after happy hour at Chillis, but that's about as much thought as was put into the entire flick. Do not rent, or better yet, send me your $3.99 and at least know you bought me a beer and I enjoyed it.

Great concept for a scifi movie. I thought it was worth the movie rental.
