Description

Audrey Hepburn received an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of a photographer's blind wife who is trapped in her New York apartment by an evil trio, ready to murder her to retrieve a heroin-filled doll hidden in her apartment. Henry Mancini's music heightens the pitch as tension mounts. With Oscar-winner Alan Arkin ("Little Miss Sunshine," "Slums of Beverly Hills"), Emmy-winner Richard Crenna ("Sabrina," the "Rambo" movies) and Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. ("Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman," "Hot Shots!"). Directed by early "James Bond" director Terence Young ("Dr. No." "From Russia with Love").

Audrey Hepburn plays a blind woman tormented by 3 men and a McGuffin. Almost every scene takes place within a New York apartment, where she must use all of her skills to defend against, and defeat the 3 men. Alan Arkin stands out as a creepy bad guy.

WAIT UNTIL DARK is one of the great suspense thrillers, truly frightening. Alan Arkin is unnerving in his portrayal of the psychopath drug dealer; The last fifteen minutes of the film is certainly going to pop your top if you have high blood pressure or heart disease: perhaps you should have a physical before seeing this movie. Perhaps the best performances of both Hepburn and Arkin.

I expected this movie to be amazing...i was not dissapointed! It was nerve wracking and it stressed me out! There were three parts in the movie that made me scream in mortal terror! So those are just some feelings you might get when watching the movie. I suggest this movie to anyone who wants a scare but does not want to be scarred for life:)

I remember first seeing this as a kid. I love this movie. It's a great thriller. Very intense. The tension grabs you and you won't be able to wiggle your way out of its grasp. Watch it! Its an older movie, but it belongs on the list along with many contemporary thrillers as well as the classic thrillers of the ages. Again, watch the movie.

I've seen this film several times. I actually saw this when it came out in the theater. I took a date, and there's a scene near the end of the film that is quite sudden and frightening; my date nearly broke my hand she was so scared. This is an excellent thriller in the old style. There are no car chases, no explosions, no big special effects. Just solid acting by a stellar cast, and a well crafted story. Audrey Hepburn is stunningly beautiful in this film that casts her with Richard Crenna, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Jack Weston, and Alan Arkin. And Alan Arkin deserves credit as one of the first really evil bad guys. Not fast paced film, but it is an excellent film! Hepburn and Zimbalist both got Golden Globe nominations, and Ms Hepburn received an Academy Award nomination.
