Description

Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) is a modern woman on a quest to marvel at and travel the world while rediscovering and reconnecting with her true inner self in Eat Pray Love. At a crossroads after a divorce, Gilbert takes a year-long sabbatical from her job and steps uncharacteristically out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life. In her wondrous and exotic travels, she experiences the simple pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of love in Bali. Based on an inspiring true story, Eat Pray Love proves that there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world.

A beautiful moving picture version of a fantastic book. A fantastic life. I think The cast is phenomenal and I haven’t stopped watching this movie on repeat in over a decade.

This is a good movie. If you realize that you only get one chance of this thing called life. I liked it so much I bought to have it on my Apple devices. It’ll be good to watch when I’m getting stressed.

The story begins as many do with a woman wanting to find herself after getting "lost" in her life. Unfortunately, that includes a marriage. Her husband is left to try and understand what happened, even as she takes responsibility for ending the relationship. Then it's a movie full of travel, eat, work/pray at an ashram, all of which went too slow. Excellent actors did a beautiful job with what was written for them, but it sparkled more as a travelogue, than a great movie.

As Julia's side kick says "I'm mad (about you going) because I'm jealous; I want to go" It's the kind of mid-life soul searching one dreams about. Lovely Italian acquaintenances and delicious food. Resolution of past hurt during spiritual retreat in India. And, a latin lover in Bali as the cherry on top. As a beyond-the-hill boomer I related to the search for meaning Julia undertakes. I wish I had spent mmore time doing this myself. She's good here. As is the rest of the cast. Lovely scenery. Pretty people. Platinum card. No guns. Escapist entertainment just how we like it.

  • An Inspiration

This movie inspired me to join the peace corps. It’s about self-awknowlegemnt and learning. How you must understand yourself and your place in the world before you can begin to worry about others. And, that life’s journey can be mislead and derailed at any point, but you can learn from everyone and everything. Though it sometimes comes off slightly unrealistic and even frivolous the story is genuine and inspiring.
