Description

From acclaimed director Kevin Macdonald comes a thrilling Unrated version of the adventure that’s even more gripping, gritty, action-packed! In 2nd-Century Britain, celebrated Roman soldier Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) embarks on a dangerous quest to restore the tarnished reputation of his father and find the golden emblem that disappeared with him and thousands of troops twenty years earlier. But the highlands of Caledonia are a savage wilderness, and Marcus must rely on his embittered slave, Esca (Jamie Bell), to navigate the perilous region. Co-starring Donald Sutherland, it’s a journey that tests the boundaries of loyalty and betrayal, friendship and hatred, deceit and heroism.

This is a wonderful movie!!! My husband brought this home and I dreaded seeing another slash-action-war-computer-enhanced guy movie. The action and acting in this film is not steroid computer play, feels like you are living in the times. The images and depth of choreography is beautiful. Refreshing to see the complex roles of tribes and Empires, and yes if you were not on your home turf, you were a salve. Loved it for what films are supposed to do - change your viewpoint.

I loved this movie in spite of some faults. Perhaps the lead could have been cast better and I was a little taken back by a very lame bit of dialogue: "When I ran from your father, I ran from myself." huh?. Overall, I found it to be a beautifully filmed picture, an interesting, straightforward story without detours. See it for yourself.

It's a good movie to watch if you're on a Sunday with nothing else special going on! Good acting, entertaining, dull ending!
  • Make it a double feature

I would watch this after watching Centurion and make it a double feature. I liked them both and are both about the 9th.

This movie was terrible. The entire movie was predictable in every way, boring, and lame. Acting was so bad. I've seen many movies and I haven't seen most of the cast in any television shows or other films. Tatum was the only actor who could put up "somewhat" of a roman accent.
  • best channing tatum movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the guys are hot, and that's about all it's good for. it's total liberal neo-revisionism of the worst kind.
