Description

It’s been said that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were killed in a standoff with the Bolivian military in 1908. In BLACKTHORN, Cassidy (Sam Shepard) survived and is quietly living out his years under the name James Blackthorn in a secluded Bolivian village. Tired of his long exile from the U.S. and hoping to see his family again before he dies, Cassidy sets out on the long journey home. But when an unexpected encounter with an ambitious young criminal (Eduardo Noriega) derails his plans, he is thrust into one last adventure, the likes of which he hasn’t experienced since his glory days with the Sundance Kid.

Best western I've seen in many years. Great acting, scenes and story line all made it a movie you could watch more than once.

This is a well-acted, well-scripted and well-directed film. I thoroughly enjoyed the acting, cinematography and direction. I'd watch it again -- and I recommend it.
  • Big disappointment.

Yes, the scenery is breathtaking, but the plot is deeply flawed and the dialogue is clumsy. What a waste of time. Don't bother.
  • Ok, but...

Ok movie, but a bit "slow".

Sam Shepard definitely worth watching, but not in this film. It dragged on and on for the story it was trying to tell. If this is about what happened to Butch Cassidy, I don't want to know what happened to Sundance. The location is not often seen by American movie-goers and is impressive, but it's not enough to carry a film. A lot of time was spent showing a bunch of guys riding horses through desolate land. It might be interesting if you're the one on the horse, but not for those of us watching. This is more like an art film, not a Western. It just happens to take place somewhere that shares characteristics with the old American West. Not at all to my liking....

Simply put, another great western, taking in a broader 'west' - Sam Shepard is perfect. Will watch again!

films like this are so rare these days. this is raw drama, no special effects, nothing but great acting and plot. sam shepard is tremendous in the part and stephen rea is a super addition.
