  • This movie is amazing

Please ignore the comments about the movie being one sided! I think Jolie did a wonderful job showing the pain these people were put through, AS WELL AS, the torment that happened to those who did not believe in what their own people were doing and the harsh divides that happened during this time.
  • Basically, this movie tell's a story that sells.

Yet it isn't aligned with the truth. This is just a tiny particle of the war, there was blood that's for sure but I, as a Serbian feel rather disappointed that people would think that this movie tells the whole story it just pinpointed one nation to be, sort of like the ''Empire'' in Star Wars, yet you can still see that a man such as @bosnian74 who's been living in the US for almost 9 years doesn't know writes ''8000 man'' I've never been to the US yet I still know this language better than he/she does. The point I'm trying to make is that you can't judge a book by it's cover.
  • Hardly came close to history

Hated it! Found it manipulative and exploitive of events. You have to some how applaud Angie in a small way for filming the un-filmable because no film ever can come close to the horror of that war. Atom Egayan's film Ararat did a much better job at describing the Armenian genocide which was also part of the Bosnian War but wasn't touch on here.

I rented this only because the Jolie piece aired (repeat) on 60 Minutes again & she was directing it at the time. I'm glad I did. I didn't know much about this conflict prior, but I left with a much better understanding of the conflict... from both sides. Granted, it paints the Serbs as the antagonist. However, the actors were brilliant, the cinematography beautiful, and I liked the story a lot. I don't write many reviews, but this film moved me so much that I had to submit one. A strong recommendation here!

Much better than expected. I didn't even realize how little I knew about the Bosnian conflict and what went on over there. This movie has a good story and history all in one. Worth buying.
  • At least somebody dared to show to the world what was going on for years, uninterupted by world.

    By Never say, never again.
Thank you Angelina. This happened only few years ago, and europe and the world watched, while doing nothing to stop it. Sarajevo was the host of olimpic games in 1984. The whole world was there. Europeans are hours away driving from Croatia and Bosnia, and often went there for vacations. Even though they could almost see this out of their window, mass killings, mass graves, systematic cleansing, rape camps, torture, ... continued with no help from the outside. United Nations in alot of places was completely useless, like in town of srebrenica ( netherlands division of un) where the whole population was killed and they just watched... that happened most of the time, they just watched. Nobody had the courage to show what has happened and to commemorate the victims and what they have gone through or how many died. Think for a moment, where were you in 1991? what were you doing in 1991? 1992 1993.. Just think that in that same time, few hours drive from Italy or Austria, or anywhere else in Europe really, these people spent in concentration camps, rape camps... who would possibly believe that this would be alowed to go on.. as long as it did. And they are right, UN airplanes would come in, and leave empty.. while people begged them to at least take their children out of that hell. So in fear of being "politicaly correct", it was "better" that those planes leave empty.. leaving behind all those victims.. in Sarajevo for example, city sorounded by mountains, and by Serbians snipers shooting at people on the streets that would get out trying to find food, or water which Serbs cut off from the city, etc. How many holocaust museums have we all been to, and how many times did we read after 2nd world war "Never Again". Well, it was not never again. All of it happened again here, and the world did nothing.. Serbians are not going to like the movie, first because it exposes what has really happened to the world, and what was shown in this movie was just a little slice, but also because they will never own up to what they did, and because large majority still has dreams of "Greater Serbia". I have no doubt, Serbians would do it again, only if they had a chance. I congratulate Angelina for taking on such a complex and difficult subject and above all, commemorating the victims.

I don't know what the poor comments are about. I like it. Great work Jolie. I would of liked more emotion at the end. I would of played with some different possabilitys of an ending. There is no shortage of violence. Good war movie. I hope I did not give too much away. What happend to our main character? There are a few things holding me back a star. Could be a five star movie, a little too violent. I would of toned it down a hair since it is a fictional story. I understand where they are trying to take the story and it is not really that bad. You might like to call it stupid. I don't think high commanders are that stupid. I have a few thoughts, I might consider an alternate ending and a re introduction. Hatefull, this is a comlex story as one guy said. I would not know how she did based on the real conflict. I would give it a try. I would consider my advice.
