Description

From the director of the multi-award-winning A Prophet, comes a gripping tale of two souls finding strength from each other after tragedy reunites them. Marion Cotillard (Academy Award® winner, 2007, Best Actress, La Vie En Rose) gives a tour-de force performance as Stephanie, an orca trainer whose life is transformed when tragedy strikes during a show. Faced with unbearable circumstances she turns to Ali (Matthias Schoenarts, Bullhead), a street boxer amidst his own battle of life-changing events. As their stories intersect, they navigate a gritty relationship in a world where love and courage appear in many forms.

I don't usually rate movies, but this one is a gem. It has stars with good onscreen chemistry. A good storyline, and beautifully shot and pretty much a perfect ending to a almost perfect film. I read somewhere it got a 10 minute standing ovation when it premiered overseas and it's no wonder. This movie is worth watching, I own it and have watched it several times and still happy with it each time.

Cotillard and Schoeneart are both so natural and there is great chemistry between them. A difficult love story but very real and messy.

I thought I was going to have good reason to really dislike this movie. Watching it the scenes are very drawn-out and tedious. If you're not a patient person, this movie is not for you. You will fall asleep. Although, if you bear it, the movie does finally come full circle and it's rewarding.it just takes 2 hours to do it.it is one of those movies that's not very interesting watching it but once you've finished it, you appreciate it. Also, on another note the acting is superb and very realistic. It's overwhelming because like I said it's not entertains in a continuous tense. The male actor is somewhat typecast I must say in all the movies I've seen him in he's kind of the steroid-jacked-sensitive bro

Poetic justice..Score one for captive animals. Im a recent amputee due to a traumatic motor vehicle accident. This movie chronicles how fragile life is. I was inspired!! Yes, it does offer english subtitles but after the first few scenes the movie just flows so well that I did not need to read all that was being said. Magical!!!

I have not had a movie stay with me like this for a long time. I started watching with no expectations, other than seeing what would undoubtedly be another knock-out performance by Ms. Cotillard. I was not only not disappointed, but blown away by the beautifully deft cinematography and rawly simplistic narrative. The movie, in short, is about two lost souls who find themselves through their relationship with each other. There are rather elegant allegories about changing 'animals' nature, how we define 'strength' for ourselves and in others, and what it means to win a fight. I cannot say enough good things about the gritty, emotional sucker-punch this film packs. Both leads are phenomenal--I am frankly stunned that Ms. Cotillard wasn't nominated for this role. The effects used to make her legless are equally impressive. Overall, if you aren't moved by this movie, perhaps you just haven't had to learn how to stand again after being knocked down...
