Description

If you were born in the '50s your parents spurred the biggest story of the 20th Century - the rise of the middle class. Millions of Americans left the cities for the suburbs to own a home of their own. A building boom was on. This was the decade where people built bomb shelters. If you were born in the early fifties you are a Baby Boomer, the most influential and powerful group of Americans ever born.

  • Interesting . . . .

Was nice to see images of the decade of my birth and childhood and worth renting for that reason. The "Duck and Cover" was most poignant as we were instructed in grade school. Of course it is nostalgic, but one would have hoped for more of a social science commentary on the 50's as well. While certainly important, too much time was spent on cars and the Red Scare (no mention of Joe McCarthy, by the way). Without social commentary, most of the information and images can be found in an informational 50's birthday card. Just to mention . . . the actress is not Kim Novak, but Eleanor Parker.
