Description

Killer whales are beloved, majestic, friendly giants, yet infamous for their capacity to kill viciously. Blackfish unravels the complexities of this dichotomy, employing the story of the notorious performing whale Tilikum, who — unlike any orca in the wild — has taken the lives of several people while in captivity. Blackfish expands on the discussion of keeping such intelligent creatures in captivity.

I watched this film when it first came out and I must say that it’s all slander. A true documentary shows all sides with no judgment and lets the viewers decide but this does none of that. It only shows one side and one must make a quick look and note that the family of the deceased was not happy when they found out that the death of their daughter was used in this manner.

It's not humans, it's whales. what shocks me is no one ever acknowledges this. Who goes and take another living creature, enslaves them, enjoys the profits and refuses to let go of their cash source due to a misguided moral compass? Enjoy looking at them from a boat, hop in the ocean to swim with them at your own risk (aka stupidity), and leave them alone. People need to learn the meanings behind the words: boundaries, freedom, and entitlement. SeaWorld needs to stop operating altogether because they clearly lack consciousness.

Then if you are skeptical go online and follows orcas preservation organizations, orcas researchers and read their experts reports. I will never go to a marine park for me there is no space for captivity.

No seriously, because there are some bad human who mistreated animals. And now all you animal advocates think freeing these whales back in the water is the best idea?? Did anybody ever thing maybe this is what the whale hunters out there want you too think this is a great idea, so they can hunt them down. Or maybe just sit here and watch these beautiful creatures become extinct in the future. All because we can't keep a close watch no study the animals so we can better ourself in helping them when the time is needed? Well way to go people always thinking your doing good but in reality your not. I'm going to be honest I agreed with the notion that some of these trainer and the facility need some changes. As for the shows, well they were trying to raise money to keep the animals feed and taken care of. Maybe there should be a lot less shows. But don't worry Sea World will finally close its doors and every fish we were trying to protect will be released back into the ocean. This movie on showed the negative side of the story. Never show the people the truth of reason why the place was built in the first place, which was to protect and study these animals in hope in understanding there intelligence. Instead of protesting to close down Sea World, you all should have protested to fire the trainers and have them build a bigger aquarium for the animals. Way to go people, can't wait and see how you dumb peep are going to close down the Zoo next.

Most people don't realize that you cannot release captive born killer whales into the wild because of how the social structure of pods work (which are what most of the killer whales of sea world are)- those that say- 'free the sea world whales!' don't know this. Sea World did make the good decision of stopping the captive breeding of killer whales, I think they should still should take in injured killer whales if need be and either release them when able or keep them if deemed non-releasable. I do believe the existance of sea world is extremely important for wildlife rescue / rehab /release. They conduct most of the rescues around the US and they also travel aroud the world to rescue and train local rescuers. Rescue/Rehab/Release is expensive, if Sea World shuts down, there will be an exponential decrease of our ability to help wild marine mammals that are injured in the US and there would also be a pretty big world wide impact as well. Those that say 'down with sea world' don't understand all the good work they do.
