Description

"The Collector" follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.

First, let me say that Josh Stewart is an amazing actor. He's committed and inhabits every role I've seen him portray. He never hits a false note. His performance as Arkin really helps carry the film along with the incredibly slick filming, editing, and killer soundtrack. The opening credits totally set the tone of the film at the very beginning. The tension was maintained throughout the film and frights were contained in every room of this house of horrors. The director did an excellent, creative job of creating set pieces for the various ways the killer had rigged the house. The killer himself was a masterful creation... Disturbing, mysterious, playful in a brutal way, and indestructible. I forgot to breathe for 90 minutes because of the tension contained in this expertly made thriller. Yes, it is graphic and bloody, but WOW! What a great, fun scary movie filled with incredible visuals and soundtrack. This will sound odd, but I was reminded (maybe just a hint) of "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" and "Dr. Phibes Rises Again." Kudos to all the actors and crew of this contemporary masterpiece of horror!

This film was absolutely fantastic. It was slick, greasy and the killer was ingeniously developed and fresh. The look of the film was beautifully done and josh Stewart did an amazing job as the lead. If you like modern horror slashers, you absolutely will love this. The collector is now my favorite modern horror icon! Please let them make more and more!

After seeing a lot of modern day horror/slasher films, this one is now one of my top favorites. At times it reminds you of See No Evil, but it's more twisted with a better plot.
  • Watched it twice...doesn't happen often

The idea of the movie was good. However, it just seemed like they were just trying to take a spin from Saw and just did a horrible job.
