Description

Aviation and sports come together in Strategic Air Command.This 1955 American film is starring James Stewart and June Allyson, and is directed by Anthony Mann. Robert "Dutch" Holland (James Stewart) is a professional baseball player with the St. Louis Cardinals. As a former B-29 bomber pilot during World War II, he is also an officer on inactive status in the United States Air Force Reserve. During spring training in St. Petersburg, Florida, he is recalled to active duty for 21 months.

    This movie was shot in Vista Vision, a wide-screen, high-resolution film technique. It deserves to be released in high definition! The aerial photography is the key to this movie. Releasing it in standard definition miss the whole point.

    For it's time, it was a really great movie. While modern day younger audience will not get some of the over tones of Cold War atomic strategic fears it is still fun to watch. General James Stewart gives us a great movie. I might want to point out to iTunes that they do not list him as top billing! Ms. Allyson was a great actress, but she wasn't the main character!
