Description

The story follows the Davis family as they move to a small New England town. They just purchased an old home that the locals claim is haunted. Soon after moving in, the children hear stories from the locals on why their new home is haunted. Back when the town was founded an older pilgrim nicknamed Mr. Boogedy lived there. He hated children and would often scare them by screaming, “boogedy boogedy boo.” Mr. Boogedy may have hated children but was in love with a widow in town. In his pursuit of the woman, he becomes evil and cursed, or so the story goes... The kids do not believe the urban legend and return home only to be haunted by Mr. Boogedy, as he tries to scare them from his home.

I gave this film four stars, not because it deserves it, but more because of the amazing childhood memories I have with it! I actually have, “Mr. Boogey” (1986), and it’s sequel, “The Bride of Boogedy” (1987) on VHS somewhere from when my mom recorded it off TV on the eighties! “Mr. Boogedy” was released in, 1986 as part of, “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World Of Color”. It’s an enjoyable and fun movie that the entire family could enjoy together! Yes, it definitely is cheesy. However, keep in mind that this was, 1986, and that’s actually (to me) what makes this movie so great; the cheesiness! If you’re into nostalgia at all the way that I am, then I highly recommend this film!

I had a VHS copy of this that I practically burned a hole through watching it repeatedly. Boogedy is a classic and a perfect compliment to the season. If you've found this page I assume you know the gold that awaits you though....quit reading and go watch Boogedy torment the unsuspecting Davis family!

Finally, this is available for purchase! Watched this as a kid and want to share it with mine. Now they need to make 'The Bride of Mr. Boogedy' and 'A Disney Halloween Treat' available.

This movie has been out for quite a while. I taped it many years ago for my kids. We loved to watch it every Halloween season. It has scary parts, but it also has corny silly parts that keep it from being too intense for younger viewers. I would not recommend this for anyone younger than a 3rd grader as Mr Boogedy is pretty scary looking. It is not a very long movie and there was a sequel called The Bride of Boogedy also. We have both. It is good to watch a semi-scary movie for younger viewers without any blood, death or violence, but still a bit scary. This is not a movie for a sophisticated avid movie watcher. This is really for kids who like funny and scary at the same time.
