Description

It is the defining cultural tale of modern America – a saga of race, celebrity, media, violence, and the criminal justice system. And two decades after its unforgettable climax, it continues to fascinate, polarize, and even, yes, develop new chapters. From Peabody and Emmy-award winning director Ezra Edelman, it’s “O.J.: Made in America.”

This is truly a masterpiece. This opened my eyes to so many faucets of this case and the times that I had never known. This is the FULL story of how and why the trial and verdict in 1995 went the way they did. I can’t express how amazing this documentary is. Truly cannot find a flaw.

For anyone looking for the ultimate documentary of OJ Simpson, I give you this amazing series which deservedly won the Oscar. Not only does it detail the man and his legal history, it goes into incredible detail of the racial history in Los Angeles dating from the 40s. You might wonder why bother? But trust me, they have a point; it builds up to the Rodney King and the LA Riots which played a significant role in the trial. The people interviewed include OJ’s childhood friends, his adult friends (or former), LAPD police officers, legal workers, and the jurors. It is an amazing insight to the rise and fall of an American dream with the circumstances detailed for you to truly understand it all.

As a backdrop, O.J.: Made in America shows the story of racism and injustice relevant to this famous case. Furthermore, it points out that O.J. Simpson previously never really identified himself as "black". In fact, he had a history of distancing himself from issues of racial injustice that other African-Americans were clearly speaking out on. Only when the heat was on, did he decide to play the "race card" with his "Dream Team" legal defense. Then he was finally "black". In one revelation, a member of the defense team admits they had to change pictures in Simpson's house to make him look "more black" to the jury.

This is the first review I've ever done, I'm 17 years old and didn't live during the time of the trial, but I can tell you one thing, I know much more about the "trial of the century" than many other people who lived watching the case live on tv. This is easily the greatest documentary ever put together. Yes that's a bold statement, but go watch this film, and then read this review again. I promise you, you'll believe me 100%. IT IS A MUST BUY!

This series is 100% definitive proof that OJ Simpson was not framed by LAPD. He was literally the last black person the LAPD would ever have framed. I didn't know he was THAT famous! I think every juror on that trial should have the words "Moron Juror from the OJ Simpson Trial" on their gravestone. As a documentary, this absolutely deserved the oscar it just won. When I saw a recent prediction saying another documentary would win I thought: "This reviewer obviously hasn't seen OJ Made In America." This documentary was so good I didn't want it to end. And when it was over I just wanted to watch it again. It is the ultimate OJ Simpson documentary. The People vs. OJ Simpson was a fabulous tv show, but the OJ Simpson trial was one of those things where the real life story is just unbeatable. I don't think there will ever be such a high profile trial ever again. The families of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman should be so proud of what this film maker portrayed- he did their story justice. Yes one of the other reviewers is right- the documentary is explicit- not only does one of the prosecutors walk the viewer through what happened to Nicole and Ron when they were killed (it's unbelievable) - the show also reveals crime scene photos showing horribly graphic photos (briefly) that I didn't think they could even show. However that is no reason not to get this amazing documentary.
