Reviews

  • No sensible order of episodes

To openly oppose some reviewers, my kids are now 6 and 8 and have loved these videos for a few years. I have the Special 30th Anniversary Edition DVD set that includes 46 episodes. ThisDVD set has all of these episodes actually placed in a very logical order. The original episodes from the 70s are grouped into logical series called Grammar Rock, Multiplication Rock, America Rock, and Science Rock. There is also an additional group of episodes from the 90s called Money Rock. Now in digital format on iTunes, there are now 3 volumes sold BUT there is no logical learning order. You cannot show your kids Multiplication Rock (which my kids still love) starting with the number 0, then 2, then 3, then 4, etc. like they can watch on the DVD. Nor can they sit down and watch all the grammar episodes together. To me this does make sense, EXCEPT possibly from a seller’s view of mashing them all together to get nostalgic buyers to purchase all three volumes to get their favorites that have been strategically dispersed among the volumes. As much as I love these videos, I will have to stick with my original DVD set. The slogan to Schoolhouse Rock has always been “Knowledge is Power”. Learning is easier, and lessons are more powerful when the knowledge is grouped together.

$0.99 cents per episode is a good deal. Great shows. But why leave a “that is to expensive” on TV shows or song album on the store. I can understand complaints about you can only rent a movie or you have to buy the whole album (I have done it) but really if your going to EVERY SINGLE ONE just to complain about prices... you got to learn one thing. JUST DON’T GET IT!!! No need to leave complaining all because you have never liked it on TV. I don’t feel any sympathy that is too expensive for you just Because you can’t expect prices to be always cheap for you cheapskates for TV shows and music.

Hey this couldn't have been more memorable when it comes to music and education all at once. We need stuff like this now considering the fact that education is needed at a time when kids are not going to school as often.

Those ef us who grew up in the 70's quickly notice thatThe Four Legged Zoo and I've Got Six are missing. Then need to be added to the available downloads. Also it would have been better if the volumes were broken up as the packages were originally introduced i.e. Multiplication Rock, Grammar Rock, America Rock, etc. The School House Rock Name came later. My 2.5 year old son loves Three Is a Magic Number and Interjections. I myself learned the Preamble to the Constitution watching on Saturday mornings and had it memorized by 4th grade.

We homeschool our son (April 2010) and he loves watching these when he gets done his work early. He has even started singing along with his favorites. I do think the price is a little high for how short the episodes are.
