This is the music I grew up on as a kid. I recently moved to LA, and it’s hard to feel a sense of attachment to a place that reinvents itself so often. You loose a lot of the history and forget about who came before you and what people did the make their dreams come true and the kind of lives they had. This movie was such a wonderful experience. And this is coming from someone who would probably be considered waayyy to young to even know these artists. But I’m so glad I had the friends I did in high school to show me these people. I feel all the more closer to them and their songs from watching. I can’t recommend this enough! I hope their is more to come!

A wonderfully produced documentary regarding the artists of Laurel Canyon, California during the 60s and 70s. The Byrds; The Mommas & The Papas; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Joni Mitchel; Jackson Brown; The Eagles...just to name a few. The series emphasises the music and friendships of these artists- arguably the greatest community (literally a community) of musicians the world has ever seen. I appreciate the director's decision not to make this all about drama, infighting and drugs, which certainly ruined many lives; however, I wanted to see and hear more about the music of my youth- Laurel Canyon: A Place in Time delivers beautifully in this way. Home videos, photographs and interviews by the artists, along with a soundtrack of their music, wonderfully edited, creates an intircate tapestry, capturing the esence of this magical time. Highly recommend!
