  • There’s a reason SVU is about to start a 23rd season!

This show continues to be amazing, for its entertainment value, but also for the spotlight it placed on the real problems surrounding these types of crimes. Not just the fact that they even exist, but that police weren’t always investigating the way they needed to. Now especially, with Me Too, BLM and LGBTQ stories, I hope SVU helps make those struggles relatable for people who maybe have no first hand knowledge of what people go through. At first I thought I’d never like SVU as much after Chris Meloni left, but the stories are just as compelling, the current cast is awesome, and all the previous actors have been as well. I love the fact they show a little more of the characters now, I’ve really enjoyed that aspect. I watched from the beginning and I’m sure I’ll be watching till the series finale, whenever that may be.

This used to be the best show on television. Now every episode is worse than the one that came before it. I think I'll take a pass, on the rest of the season.

I have watched SVU since the very beginning, and have enjoyed every episode for more than 20 years--until now. It pains me to write this, but the writers have done this show and its actors such a great disservice that it needs to be documented.  What was once a brilliant, incisive, and thought-provoking show has become nothing but a propaganda vehicle for rather extreme, myopic political views that serve to further divide humanity when it most needs to be coming together. The extreme focus on "wokeness"--which, as defined by this show's standards, has little to do with promoting justice, equality, or harmony of any kind--obliterates any type of true storytelling, character development, or moral modeling. Whereas this show's writing used to be fantastic, good storytelling has been replaced with mediocre storylines and barely-believable characters clumsily shoved into contrived situations designed to demonstrate how "aware" they are--which has the unfortunate effect of highlighting just how out of touch and clueless they've become. To make matters worse, COVID-19, the vaccine, and the seriously questionable policies surrounding them are crammed into every storyline. Regardless of your stance on science, health freedom, and what you believe about the veracity of messaging surrounding the pandemic, the LAST thing humanity needs is yet another thoughtless mouthpiece preaching the wonders of pharmaceuticals pushed by soulless politicians, while ignoring every sensible measure we should be taking to protect the vulnerable. We get enough of that from the news, and I certainly don't need to see more of it from an "entertainment" outlet. If you choose to use your platform to influence the way people feel about the pandemic, you should be responsible enough to offer them hope, fact, and choice--not more mindless compliance, fear, and darkness. You are officially part of the problem, and I am truly sorry to say that I am forever done with the Law and Order franchise.

I have been & continue to be a MASSIVE fan of Law&Order SVU since Day 1. I was so excited to watch this new season & overall this 1st episode did not disappoint. The problem is now they have added this ridiculous intense background music to almost Every scene. This unnecessary addition to the show is not only distracting as hell but it’s difficult to hear what they are saying. Also, it makes every scene seem Sooo dramatic to the point I can’t help but laugh. The 1st episode did touch on important points that the country is currently facing. Which brings me to my 2nd complaint: George Floyd. Okay yes, Obviously it’s a tragedy to what happened to him & no one should go through that. However, this episode brings up the laughable notion that EVERYONE is biased & racist to a certain extent. I’m tired of people (in this case especially black people) believe that every human being is racist or has something against them. That is Childish thinking & frankly it continues to paint them as the victim. The woman who interrogated Benson (oh yeah she’s also Black) instantly accused Olivia of being “biased” or “racist” because of a simple coincidence. People need to STOP generalizing & make a tragic death become an EXCUSE to wrongly paint people in a certain light. PS: And for those who will probably & quickly assume, NO I am NOT a white person. 😂🙄
