100 Missions: Surviving Vietnam

1966. A bombing strategy in North Vietnam known as Operation Rolling Thunder is taking a toll on the pilots of the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing. The odds of capture or death are staggering, and morale is low. The USAF makes two critical moves. They send in Col. Robin Olds—a swashbuckling flying ace—to rekindle the unit’s warrior spirit. Then they add an enticing reward: Survive 100 missions and receive a ticket home. Through personal journals and rarely seen war footage, we give an inside look at the missions, men, and aircraft of the “Wolf Pack.”
