Many people who criticize the later seasons of Supernatural point to Seasons 1 through 5 for having a plan and knowing exactly how it would play out and an overall arch. It is Season 4 that most clearly shows this was not the case. Bringing in the Angels was a strength that worked well for future seasons and brought some of the best lore to the series as a whole, but in this season in particular it felt clumsy. It seemed as though the writing team finally found the direction they wanted to take the show in and Kripke knowing the show could be syndicated after 5 seasons wanted to wrap up his tenure as show-runner. While the show struggled to get its footing in the Angel storyline going forward, as a whole it was a good move and was a strong season for repeat value. Regardless, the good that made Supernatural enjoyable was still there and it was clear there was still more the show could provide.

wow who ever wrote this season did a good job

this is my favorite show ever for so many reasons. i'm just about to start season 7 so i'm kind of behind and i doubt anyone reads the reviews for this season anymore, but i won't give any spoilers whatsoever. season 4 is an amazing season and it'll keep you on the edge of your seat for days. i am in love with jensen and jared & they deserve everything with how much work they put into this amazing show.

I just love this show. It is amazing, and always leave me hanging. I can't wait until Fall 2012

Depending on whether you like Science Fiction / Horror or not - that is exactly how much you will like or hate this show. I love it. I have four seasons on my ipod and my two sons ( high schoolers) watch it in the car or during severe weather (Miami - we get a lot of power outages). The actors are very good. The writing is good. The settings, music, sex, and cars are great. Keep in mind - If Dean and Sam were real people and they knew you paid for the show - they would think you are dicks. I usually skip episodes where the fans are portrayed. You might consider the same - because I have a Masters degree from the University of Georgia, I am a girl, and I am not ugly or crazy. I wonder if Jared and Jensen feel the same - are fans dicks? Jensen was super nice to take iphone photos with a friend of mine, so for now - I think they might not hate us... but I wonder. Writers might not want to make us feel bad for liking the show. If you can get past that - you are in for a great time. If you like: Numbers, Heroes, King of Thrones, CSI, Fringe -you will like Supernatural- the crime fighting of evil!
