Description

MTV's 16 and Pregnant is a documentary series focusing on the controversial subject of teen pregnancy. Each episode follows a five- to seven-month period in the life of a teenager as she navigates the bumpy terrain of adolescence, growing pains, rebellion, and coming of age, all while dealing with being pregnant. Each story offers a unique look into the wide variety of challenges pregnant teens face: marriage, adoption, religion, gossip, finances, rumors among the community, graduating high school, getting (or losing) a job. Faced with incredibly adult decisions, these girls are forced to sacrifice their teenage years and their high school experiences. But there is an optimism among them; they have the dedication to make their lives work, and to do as they see fit to provide the best for their babies.

This show basically is saying, "HEY! You got pregnant at 16? Awesome! We needed a new show. You can become famous and be on TV for millions of people. Who cares that you shamed your parents and made the biggest mistake of your life!" I'm just saying, if I ever have a daughter one day who gets pregnant at 16, she'll be getting a swift kick in the a**, not a TV show. Oh, and Lizzie lives in my town. Skylar (baby daddy) works at our local Tropical Smoothie now. Cause you know THAT'S living the good life.

This show is so great! It shows the real struggles that you have to go through. I'm glad they came out with something like this. Maybe it will teach some people DON"T HAVE SEX! It's a simple as that. I watch this show all the time and Teen mom. This show definitley has an affect on me. It has showed me that don't have sex when your a teenager unless you want a baby. Teen pregrancy is 100% preventabe. Don't do it.

is it wrong of me to like this show becuase i like to see people with superiority complexes suffer in effectivly a life destrying move because they couldnt keep there pants on or didnt use a condom. I honestly cant decide whats worse thinking that its not going to happen to you or having the arragance to belive that a relationship started in highschool plus a baby is going to have the strength to last for any amount of time without a supportive family and a whole hell of a lot of money. Granted it does happen but its odds are dismally slim. Again this is a good show if you are religious and want to scare your son or daughter or for all the prego american teenagers who think there life is perfect, its shows a sliver into why abortion and adoption rates are so high in the US. It adds a drop of reality. this show has a little bit for every one, shows some of the real world for teenagers that live in there own little bubble most of there lives and it lets me sleep well at night knowing there are people out there who compleatly mess up there lives beacuse the didnt want to use a 1/16 of a inch plastic tube. love you all laterz

Although I am far from being a teenager, I thought that this show has much to teach about the difference between fantasy and reality. It did not surprise me that almost every one of the girls thought that a pregnancy would bring her and the child's father closer together. Of course, the real truth was it all too often drove them apart, sometimes in heart wrenching ways. There is also the question as to who is going to pay for the child; not just when he/she is born but also until the children reach adulthood. One of the problems which this series did not address is the fact that girls mature much faster than boys. A sixteen year old girl, for instance, is at least two years or possibly more ahead of her male counterpart in emotional development. Although our schools make no such differentiation, I thought it was aptly demonstrated in this series that, but for a few exceptions, the boys still had a lot of growing up to do. Eventually the ages "catch up" between the sexes, but I felt that this biological fact is a silent culprit at work here. All in all, it is my hope that teens will realize that without protection, it can happen to anyone, with life changing consequences. One of MTV's better offerings.

Umm wow I really like this season...but shouldn't these teens had learned the lesson from season 1? I think it's cool and I learned lessons from both seasons and I know what to do when I make it to high school this year………… by the way I'm 13, so the show taught me something!!
