Description

Top Gear goes bigger and faster than ever before as Tanner, Rutledge and Adam set themselves cooler and even crazier ways of testing the world's most incredible vehicles. They race from New York to Los Angeles to settle an argument about super cars, attempt a crossing of one of the Great Lakes into Canada in an attempt to prove that cars are better than boats, try to live the millionaire lifestyle on a budget and journey along the Mississippi in classic land-barges.   On a trip back to remote Alaska in home-made convertibles, bears and fire fighting helicopters get in their way, and an accident strewn motorbike road trip to Sturgess proves that fewer wheels don’t make Adam a better driver.  From high-speed races in super cars to incredible stunts and off-road mayhem, this season of Top Gear has got it all.

I had some initial doubts, but seasons three and four have won me over with engaging and original content. My only substantive critique of American Top Gear (and this probably owes mostly to the 40min time slot) is that we don't get much in the way of car reviews. Ultimately I watch this show because I enjoy seeing relatable guys dealing with incredible machines and I feel we're often missing out on half that equation. That's a particular shame given two of the hosts' obvious expertise. I wish they would a) do power laps and b) explain why, say, the McLaren MP4 Spider is so cool. They did a great job dealing with the Merc G in Season Three (i think) and I for one could do with a good deal more. Still don't let that dissuade you from giving this show a chance. The producers and hosts have really found their stride.

I love these guys —especially Adam. The guys kick off Season 4 just the right way by driving across America and making it fun and captivating the whole way to L.A. This show is seriously coming into its own with some terrific landscape shots (I had no idea camera work could be that gorgeous!) and most of all, major kudos for the cameo at the end of the first episode. Loved the journey. Gonna have to buy the whole season!
  • Season 3 and 4 are Great!

It took the hosts and producers a couple of seasons to get the show dialed-in, but Season 3 and the episodes released thus far for Season 4 have been really creative and entertaining.
