L.A. Confidential was the greatest gangster films i have ever exprienced i have seen much better crime films set in Los Angeles but never in existance a movie so highly entertaining and really over the top breaks the rules of conventional and brilliant screenplays because this screenplay is one of my favorites in cinema history but the way that this depiction of 1950's Los Angeles were crime and punishment were common and cops were stronger than ever.
The film follows our three main characters Bud White (Russell Crowe) a man who you don't want to mess with because unlike Russell Crowe having angry bad tempers while working with his actors and directors he is sure quite the temper character. Also Ed Exley (Guy Pearce) who is driven by his co-workers in the police station because he is not the type of cop that is situed for his job of course but his character was smart. And Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey) who is the Hollywood production advisor who also works in the police station and has style and focus on his proper job. Right after a coffee shop murder that was caused by Mickey Cohen (Paul Guilfoyle) which sets all the lieutentants on a cases of violence and behalf of crime cults that result in crime and justice.
L.A. Confidential has the most brilliant screenplays to ever hit cinema history and contiunes to be a entertaining piece of modern cime movies and changed the gangster genre for many years to come. The character development is fantastic we get each character introduced in the start of the film which is a impressive forplay to introduce the audience what these cops are reallly suppose to be. Even thought the movie itself is strictly serious for many of the characters this movie stills manages to be entertaining, well-written and to close to the core for storytelling and interesting heart stopping action sequences that feel powerd and overforced with emotion. I highly recommend L.A. Confidential it's source material and look of 1950's Los Angeles is the perfect world for the actors to shine and you will never get bored.
Classic!!!💯

This movie is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish! The casting is spectacular, the atmosphere is dark and gritty and best of all it’s set in 1950s Los Angeles. What more could you ask for?!

This film is a neo-noir masterpiece. If you’ve never seen this film, stop whatever you are doing at the moment and go watch it.

This isn’t just a great crime or noir film, it’s one of the best films ever made. It does a credible job capturing the feel and themes from the novel, and more importantly stands up on its own merits as well. The casting, acting, dialogue, soundtrack action, period detail and plot are all superb. A must own.
The ultimate LA film noir. A must have film

This is a truly excellent film in all respects. I owned on on DVD, then on iTunes. I've watched it at least seven times since it came out. The story of Exley and White, set in a transitional period in the LA police department and in the character of the city itself, is compelling. Honestly, there is not one thing I could possibly find wrong with this film. Spacey also does a brilliant job, as does Cromwell, Basinger, DeVito, Straithairn, Rifkin, Beckel – all great. And if you want a great double feature about the same era, watch Chinatown as well.
The best noire since Chinatown; superb

An absolute masterpiece in every sense. Gorgeoussly acted, shot and plotted, if by some chance you haven't seen it yet, you're in for a rare treat.
One of the best screenplays

The screenplay is a gem. Many people would think this is predictable and usual, however, there's nothing usual when along with a wonderful whodunnit comes a gripping and grim tale that is one of the best film noir in a long while. The salivating screenplay brings light by a wonderfully talented actors that are in their masterful peak. Guy pierce as the novice, Russell Crowe as the season vet, Kevin spacey as a cop and many more. It is a real shame that only Ms basinger got the oscar win, but it is a testament how amazingly crafted this movie is that it's still marvelous enticing and mesmerizing! Don't miss it!

I cannot say enough about this film except that, it is still the ONLY one that I would watch any time, any where, and never get sick of it. I’ve wracked my brain thinking of any other film that comes close, and the Usual Suspects is the next-best, but not by a long-shot! I love the characters, the costumes, the music, the nuances, the scenery and setting, but above all - I love the story! It’s gripping, twisting, enduring, and irresistible. With it’s 7 Oscar nominations and 2 wins (Kim Bassinger’s was so well-earned!), the teacher gives it an A+.
