Description

From producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay comes director Leslye Headland’s smart and sexy new comedy. Twelve years after their one-night stand, Jake (Jason Sudeikis) and Lainey (Alison Brie) cross paths and realize that they’ve both become chronic commitment-phobes. Despite their obvious attraction, the two agree to keep their friendship strictly platonic. But as sexual tensions rise, their deal proves to be more difficult than they thought.

Best romantic comedy I have seen. When Alison Brie is dancing to David Bowie on Ecstasy it just melts my heart.

My friend had me watch this movie on a whim and it’s now one of my favorites. It’s so cute and funny. You won’t regret it.

Due to all the other good reviews I had high hopes for this movie. however it was a strong disappointment- the drawn out sex scenes were awkward and unnecessary. Dont waste your time

This movie is 5% entertaining and 95% terribly backwards- minus the 5% etertainment value. Written by an assitant of Mr. Weinstein himself you'd think Leslye Headland would have a different take. But alas, she not only keeps quiet on the issue, she perpetuates it.
  • Not your usual rom-com...

So let me just start by saying, I do not usually enjoy romantic comedies. I think they're overdone and predictable and incredibly cheesy. SWOP, though, is actually very funny, rough around the edges, but awfully sweet. Jason Sudeikis makes the film pop, and the Glow actress, Alison Brie, is the second half to the volume that makes the movie whole. I don't know if it's also the supporting casts, the punch lines, the dialogue- this movie does it for me. There were moments were I was glued to the screen, internally screaming at the characters. I wouldn’t underestimate this movie. It's well-written, hilarious, and yeah, it'll make you say, Awww.

Worth a $3 rental if you're bored. I do appreciate the attempt by the writers and lead actors, but nothing original here. Definitely not worth it to purchase. .

I was surprised to see such a low rating. I have watched it everyday for the past three days. I thought it was funny, sweet and engaging. Was it predictable, yeah-but c’mon! It’s a romantic comedy. I’m not holding it up to a suspense flick or something artsy. I’m watching this movie because I’m a romantic, and I love watching people fall in love in the fantastic world of cinema. So, ignore the other blowhards and give it a go. Mantzoukas is the love of my life.

Rom Com plot of a guy and a girl leaning on eachother to work out thier realationship problems, without dating each other. The main problem is the leads are not very likable or accessible. It runs way to long to a predictable ending.
  • Fantastic Surprise

Best 99-cent rental turned full purchase! A beautiful love story about best friends and love in the modern age. Jason Sudeikis delivers a whole new side. Funny but romantic and serious. Has a GREAT soundtrack, to boot!

Despite how predictable this movie is, it was fun. Even if the chemistry between the characters is a little off (he looks older than her & he's a little too NY-self-deprecating-a-la-Woody-Allen) they clearly have a connection. They are clearly having fun with each other, and the characters seem credible and well-developed enough. It's a rom-com; it will make you feel good about love.
