Cliff Curtis is a powerful actor. This film isn't a stroll in the park. You get a peek into the lives of people who don't shop at Banana Republic and get smoothies at the food court. However this film shows how a simple passion of one person and transform the lives of many.

I have watched Cliff Curtis for years! He is know for being an ethnic chameleon as far as his fine acting skills have taken him. Here is a two minute video from Slate that gives you an idea of some of those accomplishments. In this movie he plays a New Zealander, which is where he is from. But he plays a character unlike any he has ever played, that I know of, and does it brilliantly. The movie works on many levels, giving us insight into another culture, the subculture of a chess community and what it can provide in several ways for people, in this case children... It also portrays a human being who struggles with 'issues', which all humans have in some way or another, and how community can help or divide. Of course, it also shows how this human's issues affects the community. Mr. Curtis usually picks a winner to attach himself to. In this case, he has done it again. Well worth watching! :) Kudos to those who put this together...
