Description

Meet Patriot, Potomac, Primrose, Poppet, and Phil—five spirited puppies who, from the moment they're born, begin an incredible journey to become guide dogs for the blind. It's a rigorous two-year process that will take the pups from the care of selfless foster volunteers to specialized trainers to, if they make the cut, a lifelong human companion. At every step of the way, the puppies will be tested, challenged, and evaluated. Only the best of the best will be chosen for the job of guide dog—who has what it takes? Introducing viewers to an unforgettable cast of canine personalities and the dedicated individuals who work with them, Pick of the Litter is an uplifting, bighearted celebration of the unique bond between humans and dogs.

Great movie that covers every detail of what it takes to get a puppy from birth to a trusted guide and companion.

I learned so much about the training procedures to create an aid dog. I felt bad for the volunteers that fell in love with there dogs and then had to give them up to for the next level of training. I love my dogs and can’t imagine it. But they know they are doing an important service. Happy endings, after the tears

Saw this at Guiding Eyes for Blind in Patterson NY with other puppy raisers, our puppies and our GEB region director. All dogs and raisers are different but the goal is the same, training a smart confident dog to make a blind person’s world better. The documentary details dog, volunteer raiser, professional trainer and blind persons perspectives. Watching you will have both tears of joy and sadness. Best movie I have ever seen. Recommend this for all ages. Quella my 1 year old yellow lab liked it too (especially the puppy squeals).

The work people do to get dogs trained for the people who need them is amazing. This movie is inspiring and very moving. As a dog lover, I can’t imagine raising a pup to give it up. But the end result in this movie is worth it all. Great story.

Loved it. Rooted for all the dogs to pass and fulfill what they were taught to do. And to see the dogs that didn’t make what they were bred to do, was very glad to see them living happy lives post training. Such a wonderful documentary.

I loved seeing this movie I am a guide dog user myself and got my dog from this school. My dog has done so much for me over the last 5 years. Thank you Guide dogs for the blind for all you do and to everyone that helps make dream come true. Service dogs and guide dogs make a differacne in so many peoplesl lives and it's truly amzing what they can train them to do. O and they still get to have normal dog lives to run play all that stuff
