This film exposes the evangelical preachers who twists Gods word the way Satan did; for prosperity. It is a very eye opening documentary and so worth it.

This film does well in debunking the scammers and money hungry faith healers. It also does well in saying that Christ alone is the Christian’s salvation. However, it fails to account for the healing that God does do and desires to do. Kimber threw the baby out with the bath water. Interesting film, well done, and your eyes will be turned to Christ no doubt. But God still does miracles. God still heals.

I enjoyed learning more about the essence of the gospel, and I was astounded at how far the word of faith movement was from the biblical gospel. I’m so thankful for this amazing resource!! I will share it with anyone that will listen!!!

Why should you watch this movie? Regardless of what church you go to and what denomination you belong to, American Gospel is the movie that you should watch. Because it helps you understand the truth of the scriptures and exposes the false message that has been popular in the churches for decades. Personally, I grew up in a church that believed in a Jesus that gives you everything you want, makes you prosperous and never fails you. This is NOT Christianity by any means. Jesus didn’t come to make us healthy and wealthy but to make us alive and sanctify us for the glory of God, and this movie exactly captures that! Again, whoever you are, you SHOULD watch it! I can’t recommend this movie enough!
  • Was expecting something else

I was expecting this to be a history on the health, wealth, and prosperity gospel, detailing major societal trends and events that lead to its spread. Instead, it is simply a promotion of a particular version of the gospel and those that are in line with that version will give the documentary 5 stars. Those that are not will give it less. This will perpetuate the theological divide among Christians. Let me ask you this. Are you saying “tsk, tsk, this reviewer just doesn’t get it”? If that’s the case, then that’s my point. A nonpartisan historical analysis would have been much more valuable in our current theological environment. It would have showed us how the spread happened and what we can do to slow it or possibly reverse it.
