Description

A fast living, cynical London music executive (Daniel Mays) heads to a remote Cornish village for a guys weekend where he's pranked by his boss into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen (led by James Purefoy). He becomes the ultimate "fish out of water" as he struggles to gain the respect or enthusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families (including Tuppence Middleton) who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. As he's drawn deeper into the traditional way of life he's forced to reevaluate his own integrity and ultimately question what success really means.

Every once in a blue moon, we find a movie that turns out to be a rare gem. This is that movie. Yes, I just finished watching it and I find myself writing a review (which I never do on iTunes) because it was an absolutely REFRESHING movie. With all of the 2020 COVID, tensions around the world, and lack of movies (and just feel good ones at that); this movie struck a cord with me. It was a great relief to watch a movie that was so well done, well written, well acted, and one that made you feel all of life’s emotions, that it gave me a feeling of hope for humanity. I had forgotten what it felt like to watch a movie that gave me joy. Thank God for my wife for finding this. I’ll probably end up buying it and sharing it with friends and family. I highly recommend it.
