Description

The first feature-length film from the acclaimed Studio TRIGGER, creators of the hit series KILL la KILL and Little Witch Academia, and director Hiroyuki Imaishi (GURREN LAGANN, KILL la KILL), Promare uses a bold cel-shaded visual style to tell a blistering action-adventure story, and is the spiritual successor to many of director Imaishi's former works. Thirty years has passed since the appearance of Burnish, a race of flame-wielding mutant beings, who destroyed half of the world with fire. When a new group of aggressive mutants calling themselves "Mad Burnish" appears, the epic battle between Galo Thymos, a new member of the anti-Burnish rescue team "Burning Rescue," and Lio Fotia, the leader of "Mad Burnish" begins.

Someone needs to tell the fella with no shirt that his catchphrases are kinda redundant. Other than that 10/10

Everything from the animation to the soundtrack to the voice acting in both (Japanese and English) versions; is an absolute work of art. The story is top notch and the characters are well developed and endearing. I loved it so much. Highly recommend.
  • A visual masterpiece with a story to match

I saw this movie in theatres 3 times. I had to. It immediately caught my attention with the stunning visuals and powerful motion that Studio Trigger is known for. They soared no expense; even the 3D that's used for more complex shots not only doesn't break the immersion, but flows just as well. With a story about the grey line that falls between what's right and wrong and a cast of characters who are both enjoyable to watch and who break the norms of what's common in Japanese media, I couldn't recommend this movie more.

This is probably one of my most favorite anime movies that I have ever watched. The villain is predictable, but the story and the visuals are so compelling that you kind of miss the flaws. I could not recommend this more.
